All jokes aside, the fact that Saban and BK both wanted him and were/are willing to pay him that much speaks volumes. No surprise that none of us can see it. But in the building, in the meeting rooms, etc. clearly there has to be something valuable.

Also it’s hard to make his results the most crucial gauge when his quarterbacks have been Ian Book, Jack Coan, Tyler Buchner, and Drew Pyne.

That’s true. But he was picking from the group that was willing to go to ND. Even if talent evaluation isn’t his strong suit, he’ll definitely have a giant safety net with that at Bama.

i am pretty sure rees will be a success at bama. Breaking in a new qb(if It’s How it plays out) would be my only question mark but I don’t see why it would not work. Perfect move for his career, he needs that guidance from saban.


For nd it kind of sucks now but having two young up and comers trying to co exist was probably never a great idea.

 

Thought it was weird that he would leave ND with the talent coming back and the alma mater factor but this makes sense. If Freeman succeeds then Rees will never get the ND head job. And if Freeman fails he doesn’t want to be associated with it/still in the conversation. I guess that’s how he views it.

he wants to be a head coach and there is no one better than saban to learn from. Rees will have a crazy cv in a few years. Say what you will about Kelly, he is still a very good coach. Rees learned under him and now gets to perfect his craft under saban.

i think he is a perfect fit for bama too, his offense is nfl like in a good way. Nd just never had the qb when he was calling the games. Maybe his fault but he won’t have that issue at bama.
