Yeah, on all the Seamaster Pros - point of contention with watch enthusiasts. I wish they didn’t have them, but I honestly don’t ever notice it
I wouldn’t say I’m “anti-diver” but something about wearing a watch (very pretty one at that) built for something I would never use it for, I get.
I agree with that assessment & Lyrtch ’s anti-diver sentiment as well. If acquiring one watch, it wouldn’t be a diver for me, but they are a great complement to a collection - and many (SMP300, Sub, 50 Fathoms, to name a few) have horological significance. Nobody is using jewelry to scuba these days, but they do make a great travel watch - they are typically durable & fine in just about every occasion/activity. GADA pieces, if you will.
This is an all-time favorite piece, with significance to me... Years back, I recall trying it on, handing it back to the salesperson & telling my wife "That's insane, I cannot fathom paying $1k for a watch"
I’m a huge diver fan. Especially if someone is a one watch total person. Great GADA watches that can be worn with a tshirt all the way to a tuxedo, and don’t really look out of place (with some exceptions). What would your one watch suggestion be?
my GMT is my daily also wife saw some Gucci exchangeable bezel vintage bangle watch on TikTok so now have that coming
Most traditional divers, with some exceptions, aren’t ideal for formal / under cuff wear. For one watch, I’d roll with something with at least 100m WR & better able able to dress up/down - to name a few examples: Santos de Cartier Omega Aquatera GS White Birch Rolex Explorer or OP IWC Mark XX
I have officially requested this from an AD. Got it on the heels of a friend making some bigger purchases and he claims he can come through in a reasonable time window.
I had wanted a 14060 for a while and found one in near perfect condition. I may not wear anything else for a while.
Next Friday will be fun: slogan119 & I are going on a watch jaunt in Chicago… no doubt peer pressuring one another into a purchase.
selling two watches on eBay (Breitling Super ocean Rose gold Chrono and Frederique Constant Seconde Seconde Moonphase) finally they guilted me into turning on let people make offers, just low-ball city can't imagine this is worth the time
If you ever get the opportunity to see an A Lange & Sohne 1815 chronograph, do it - the inside is a work of art, like a miniature city with all sorts of levels to it.
