Been watching watch videos even though I never wear them. I like the microbrand stuff some that have caught my eye.
Just got this from dad. A little big for my wrist but I’ll get used to it. Think I want to change the strap though - not a fan of the leather alligator style
Huge fan of Laventure as a microbrand. Have a couple of their watches that have been in heavy rotation the past few months.
Son #2 (young teen) asked for (among other things) a "chronometer" for Christmas. He has a decent Timex now but I'm guessing wants something stainless-ish that he can wear and has a 100m or so resistance. My kids are bad about losing something, so I'm looking at a $150 cap (either new or used). I know that's pretty low, but what are your thoughts? I'd give him my Seiko diver, but it's pretty beat up and in the middle of a movement exchange (stem is messed up). Thanks for any help/ideas.
https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/seik...id43448197.htm?searchHash=2545a9_L3ZFzg&pos=4 some really decent quartz chronos in this vein available
thats just like watch eBay, if you want a more legit easier site to manage you can just go here https://www.jomashop.com/seiko-chronograph-gmt-quartz-white-dial-mens-watch-ssb425p1.html
Seiko and Citizen have some very decent chronos sub $200. They tend to have better movement and lifespan than $100 watches. My grandpa gave me my first Seiko in 1999 and it’s still kicking.
It’s Rolex’s Certified Preowned program. They started it a few years ago in the US. Basically giving certain ADs ability to sell pieces that have gone through Rolex’s authentication and servicing. They’re repackaged with CPO box, paperwork, and card, given a two year factory warranty, and then resold at an AD (seemingly for a good bit higher than retail on similar models). https://www.rolex.com/en-us/buying-a-rolex/rolex-certified-pre-owned I’ve got the receipt from Mayor’s Jewelers in Jacksonville where he bought this watch in March for $16,950!!!! An absolutely wild amount for a used (albeit lightly) stainless GMT produced 15yrs ago!!
you can get a good price on a lot of seikos on Reddit r/watchexchange in a good price range. It’s peer to peer there is a slight risk but I don’t think there are issues in that price range. I bought 6k watches on there with no issue.
The more i see these pistachio dials the more I want one. For the first time in my watch buying life I may be asking an AD for an Oyster Perpetual.
Damn. Congrats! And I'm super jealous. Hoping I get the call for this exact watch in the next few months. You buy it retail or secondary? And what's your review of it so far?
Got it secondary. Its the 4500, not the newer 4520. Have had it just a couple of days. Loving it so far. The blue dial is amazing. Definitely better than any other blue dial I've ever had. The quick change strap system is also great.
Joining this thread. Got gifted an AP royal oak from a boss. Any tips for upkeep/care etc? I’m a complete idiot when it comes to watches (wear a garmin) but have been very much enjoying reading this thread and learning about it. Can see it becoming super addicting.
Did get the wife the panthere at the mansion location the other day. Fun experience, gorgeous store with so much absurd shit on display.
I’m jonesing for a Must. I prefer the size of the large over XL, but the XL dial is much nicer and the XL is the only one that’s automatic.
First, congrats. Second, post some pics. Third, the AP bracelet and finish are great but they will scratch. You’ll generally want to be careful about what you rub it against, bang it into, set it on, etc. Tables, doors, laying it in a valet tray with all your keys, rubbing it against an Apple computer while typing, and anything similar will damage it. So just be a bit conscious of that and it’ll be fine. It shouldn’t need taken in for service for 10+ years.
I noticed that I haven’t been wearing my Seamaster 300 as much lately and am considering selling it. I’ve only sold cheaper watches on Chrono24 before. Anyone with any experience selling through EBay or Bezel?
Recently sold two through eBay Pretty painless, they auto use authenticators for anything over like 1.5k iirc
Great for the price point. My only negative is that any/all of the watch content creators will always have it on their list when they do best watches under 1000, etc videos.
I really like the watch it but just find myself not wearing it much these days w/ the Grand Seiko and Sinn taking up more wrist time.
I love that watch, but not the one I'm in the market for. Was going to try to save us some ebay fees/taxes!
I think you’re right. I don’t need to sell it and don’t have anything imminent I’m purchasing (unless the AD calls about that Explorer II). Doesn’t hurt that the offer from Bob’s was comically low, meaning I’d have to do the work myself.
