Oh yea, that came out a while back, maybe a year ago. He was open and talked about it. I'm not proud of it but I've loosely followed his drama for probably 2 years. He had a cocaine problem at one time iirc. Drama comes up, he's open about it and says how he's turning his life around, six months go by, more drama, rinse and repeat.
I follow a couple YouTube guys, teddy and some guy named Chad Alexander. But chads is like shorts and just mainly videos of cool watches celebs wear.
grew up with friends buying fakes in NYC, its craaaaazzzzzy how good they are now. the ones back in the day were so bad.
Looking at the reptime subreddit is scary. I used to think most reps would be like a Nautilus or other watches that are six figures, maybe gold and platinum rolexes. Instead there are tons of reps of watches that cost 4-5k retail and makes you worry how you ever know you are getting the real thing.
yeah never been a sketchier time to buy grey market still most the non really popular reps, pandas, gmt's, pateks, AP, etc usually have decent tells or mistakes.
I remember being on the streets of New York. And trying to buy one, I said I wanted to buy a fake Rolex and the guy was like nah man these are real. Wanted 200 for it. I started cracking up, listen I know they’re fake and still want one, I’ll give you 20 for it.
going to start saving up for a Daytona what's everyone's favorite model? i couldn't afford anything ultra-rare and fortunately don't even like a lot of them (gold, meteorite, etc)
I assumed he was asking about pre-owned. The white dial is more saught after, they're both beautiful but I actually favor the black dial. Beyond that, I don't appreciate large differences in the models over the years, so I'd wait for a comfortable price and "buy the seller."
Personally would just not buy something without its original box and papers. And if somehow I did, would need to have the 30 day money back guarantee like Chrono 24 and take it somewhere to verify its real.
The other upside to Chrono 24 is its escrow service. Essentially, as the buyer, you do not release your funds from their escrow holdings until you're satisfied with the watch.
If you buy something without box and papers you might as well just buy a replica IMO (they’re really good these days).
my other watches also have black dials so maybe that'll be my theme. i also think i prefer the black/steel to the panda.
At this stage, me working is mostly passive. I spent the morning practicing photography... I've spent about 15-20 minutes on a client call since. No pool though
Any used dealer is not going to balk if you ask them their return policy if the watch is found to be a fake or stolen. They will refund you with proof of an appraisal by a legit 3rd party or find another seller. And they’ll go back up the food tree to get their money back. Buy watch > take for appraisal ASAP > get refund if needed Generally, these guys care about their reputation and know they can get destroyed on social media in a hot minute.
I'd love to see a good fake. I've only seen the hilariously bad ones they used to sell in times square
ehh original post was a bit hyperbolic but with the way the replicas are going I would want box/papers on anything I'd buy on the secondary/grey market
very true. I think the good Daytona reps are ~$700-800 but that's a fraction of the grey market price.
Don’t care what anyone wears… I wear Swatch & G-Shock with as much joy as anything in my collection. Rep = Fake & Not my style… Have a few friends that “flex” Reps. I judge, shame & ridicule them whenever possible. Just buy what you like & can afford… trying to represent something that you’re not is lame
Know a guy where I live with a skeleton AP, aquanaut, and a Rolex or two that are all fake. I get ads for replicas on social media all the time that look fairly believable for a few hundred $, but I’m sure holding the 2 in person makes it obvious.
99% of people won’t notice. Hell, some are so good you or I couldn’t tell unless the movement was inspected.
Oddly enough asking someone the question of "how did you get that?" is the biggest tell in my experience. On more than one occasion, I've heard back "I just bought it," as if it's as simple as walking into a store and buying an AP, Patek, or hard to get Rolex.
Just a basic automatic; nothing fancy. I think BrickTamland recommended it to me. https://www.jomashop.com/tissot-cla...ilver-dial-mens-watch-t129-407-16-031-00.html Will caveat that this was my gateway drug into a very expensive hobby and I would advise newcomers to be cautious.
