I've got a big professional milestone coming up, launching a new brand. Bronze/brass color is a big element of the brand's VBL so I'd like to get a new watch to commemorate that. Any suggestions i should be looking at? Budget is in the Hamilton, Laco, Longines type tier. Early quick searches and these are some of my starting points. I personally love the blue/bronze combo, but black/bronze is more of a direct tie to the brand.
Personal preference is the Hamilton and Longines. I’m an Oris fanboy but I prefer the black and bronze look. If you like blue/bronze then the Oris is an easy choice imo.
Let me throw another Oris option out there, Baseballman86 https://www.oris.ch/en/watch/carl-brashear-limited-edition/01-733-7720-3185-set-ls
Maybe not but would be a stretch for sure. If the brand is successful, the budget should go up significantly, but that would be a question for this time next year
Man, this is an expensive habit. Have two appointments set to try on watches again next weekend and keep staring at the IWC I liked but just chose the Moon Watch over lol
Once you really appreciate the movement and craftsmanship of a fine mechanical watch - even putting aside the great aesthetics for a second - it really makes it easy to fall for them
Congrats! Mrs. Tamland gave me a photo album, so yeah. Whole lotta preference at play, but I love the black Sedna first option. Assuming you’ve tried the DSotM watches on? They’re yuuuuge.
First option I would say, all black was a little too bold for me when I tried in on in person congrats!
IWC's e-commerce marketing is on point. I can't scroll through 5 posts on IG without seeing an IWC ad and clicking on their site.
Looks like the Daytona Le Mans are starting to hit ADs and get listed on chrono24: https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/rolex-cosmograph-daytona--id29998947.htm Initial prices of $225-$400k. I'm sure that will come down. Hope I get the call.
Might be too late. I'm banking on the fact that I emailed my AD before he even knew the watch existed and within like 30 minutes of it being announced on Twitter on some random Saturday. If he gets one, I'd like to think I get a call given what I have bought and told him I will buy.
I always wonder if my Rolex purchases really count towards my spend, or if it’s just wife’s jewelry that moves the ball down the field…
Stopped at a Tudor AD today and window shopped. I think a Black Bay 54 may be in my future. BB58 and Pelagos are just bigger enough to not feel comfortable on me.
Anyone who wants to own this 1/10th with me can wire me $25k and once we get 10 people we can buy it together lol
i might go 1,3,2. would need to see 3 in person to see how busy it looks. but lange makes maybe the best looking dress watches so all are great
So my dad called me today and told me to stop over, “it’ll only take 10mins.” Sure, no problem… have no clue what he wanted. Sit down at the table and he pulls out a bag with a small box in it. Spoiler Gave me his first Rolex.
my grandfather was poor so he wore what looked like that watch but was like $40 for his whole life. always have a soft spot for the two tone jubilee style bracelet.
Just got back from Brown’s brand new Buckhead store. You need to get there ASAP, ask for Kayli. She’s sweet, brand new, and in need of some new clients (she took over Rachel’s book since she didn’t come back from maternity.) Their allocations seem to be increasing with their new Rolex boutique status. The store is beautiful, too. Plus they’re building out a PP boutique next door that will open next year
This was my wife’s grandmother’s. She was Italian and bought it in Switzerland. It’s about 80 years old and still keeps time at ~ 5 minutes in 24 hours.
