Passed down. Grandfather is the kinda guy who smartly kept everything. Have the original box and paperwork from 1963 along with service history which the most recent still has two years on the warranty.
I'm not wearing a Coke watch but I think they did a good job with the band looking like an old Coke bottle.
They will write marketing case studies on the G-Shock and how mechanical watch nerds somehow embraced a late 80s quartz design in the 2020s.
Pretty certain the wife is grabbing me the original John Mayer/Hodinkee/G-Shock collab, to complete my set. I am excited.
The watch boutique I got my Speedy from (Omega, IWC, Tudor, Rolex, Zenith, Oris, etc.) says they have a huge watch fair at the boutique next week. They have representatives from every brand there and it's their biggest event of the year. They claim that there will be sales, discounts, etc. and have sent me about ten initiations to go between texts, calls, e-mail, direct mail, etc. What's a reasonable expectation for a discount on a full price IWC or something like that?
Not in person, at an event like that... would bet it's a straight 10% off. You generally only push the 25% savings with an out of state AD & no sales tax.
Same and not for lack of effort. Would be nice to get a call from one of the like 5 lists I’m on before end of the year. Ideally the one below.
I regret not getting the BB58 on the bracelet and I see it as cost prohibitive to pick it up after the fact. I don’t own a GMT. Tudor GMT looks good on me, the GMT Master II is a touch too big. I’m closing in on a position with regional travel; I’ll be back and forth between eastern and central. I love the idea of a watch that always has home time displayed to remind me of my family.
I was under the impression the precious metals on rubber weren’t too difficult to get. A buddy was just offered a rose gold skydweller on oysterflex.
Good to know; I need to see it in-person again. I tried it on when it was first released and loved it.
Agreed. I think Rolex maybe only started shipping the new Daytonas this month or last. Either way, that one should be fairly easy to get and isn’t anywhere near as popular as the stainless steel models. Hence my frustration with my AD not calling me yet.
I’m gravitating towards Grand Seikos for my GMT. $3,300 And the beautiful discontinued SBGM221 for about ~$3,400 on the secondary:
Just watching reviews and looking at the dimensions, you’re absolutely right: both of the Tudor GMTs are bricks.
Good looking watches. I'm not a fan of the GS logo and the font used for Grand Seiko though. Looks busy up at the top.
They definitely need to just roll with "GS" or "Grand Seiko"... Just pick one. My only other beef with them is their bracelets. They are quality, but they aren't finished with the same precision, and attention to detail as the actual timepiece & cheapens the overall execution. That's what's held me back from grabbing the White Birch thus far & why I tend to lean towards GS models with leather strap, like the Omiwatari
Anybody watch this? Obviously not applicable for 99.9999999999% of the world but still really cool to hear their thought process and just see these one of a kind items
Wife got me a macro lens & been playing with it today… figure I won’t just bother slogan119 with the pics, as I practice Spoiler
Mine was out like all the other ones but my first adjustment and it didn’t come all the way back out.
Always blows my mind how many shitty looking watches Omega comes out with. Really could be such a clean brand if they kept their watch lines simplified.
