I’m going to cave and buy a GS elegance GMTs or a NTTD one of these days. Probably both, but NTTD first.
Once you understand the meme of “hand watch” and are part of a watch group, WhatsApp, etc, you’ll never not see it.
Definitely not you. It was merely a random thought from my WhatsApp community that I posted here. It’s wearing your watch past the boney prominence, or, on your hand. Google “r/handwatch”
I've been super self aware of this since yall brought it up. At one point like a year or so ago I dropped my watch and part of the clasp broke. It still will clasp but I wonder if that has something to do with it being so loose. Maybe that's irrelevant and I just need a link taken out. Regardless, now that yall brought it up, it is bothering the shit out of me and I need to go the store and do something about it . I was looking like a schmuck in ignorant bliss before yall raised this issue and no one had said shit , although I was probably getting silently judged.
What’d you think? Never seen one live or tried one on. This one I have tried on. And it felt light and cheap to me. The strap seems really weak in comparison to the oysterflex imo.
The Laurent ferrier doesn’t look great in my picture but I loved it in person. It was titanium and wore great. Cool dial as well. agree on the aquanaut. Would definitely take one and loved the green but no way I spend 80k on that. Though I would say the strap feels right and on many Rolexes I don’t think any look better or I would prefer in oyster flex.
Me and my buddies trade watches for a few days sometimes. Big mistake borrowing this one cause now I have to buy one.
What are your thoughts on your watch there vs. mid to late 90's polar explorer II? Same price point-ish. I want to get a white watch. My other watches I wear frequently are a speedy and a tudor pepsi GMT.
Bias'd af here, but so rarely see a polar in the wild. My current 3 watch rotation is a black 16750 on the oyster bracelet, speedy pro on nato, and pepsi seiko diver on rubber strap.
I picked up my wife’s Christmas present this weekend and was just BS’ing about watches with the salesman. I got the feeling it’s been a slow Christmas season for them. I’ve been wanting another Speedmaster and he offered me the hesalite for $6000 out the door which is about 24% off with sales tax. So close to pulling the trigger and going at lunch today.
Elgin is approximately 30 minutes from my house. I wish I had the money to buy the IP and restart the brand in their original hometown.
Dang that sold for "only" $3k. Beautiful piece. https://www.frettclockworks.com/sho...6iepmRu_lbbpfeqBMw_aem_K22Eoiu4-Q5bv8_MZHSwPw
Yeah I assumed it would go super fast, gorgeous piece. Might have bought one that checks a ton of family boxes to give my not 2 year old nephew down the road
I was just curious on pricing, assumed they'd be much more expensive. $2k-3k is very reasonable for some of those dials. The open casebacks are awesome too. I didn't know pocket watch conversions where a thing.
Got a 100 year old one with 23 gems from my wife's families hometown for 1500 It's an incredible watch
