Are you suggesting large companies can't have fanboys/sheep? Really?
I'm suggesting that when a company has $58 billion in revenue in a quarter, that it's no longer just fanboys who are buying products.
In the market for a new watch. I wear suits to work most days, and I need something less flashy than the gold watch I have now. But it needs to be nice enough to wear to court and to meet with clients.
Where did I say only fanboys bought their products?
This is in direct contrast to the previous posts talking about sales of the watch.
You don't sell that many because of fanboys.
I don't know if it's the angle, but that dial looks really unnecessarily tall.
Also, here for the apple watch hate.
Sold our IWC Mark XVI yesterday for 1900
Great question. Can you get a decent one for $500?
Decent is such a subjective word. Personally, I think there are hundreds of decent watches for less than $500 but you might be pickier than I.
A few good ones off the top of my head...
You can get a Shinola (and tell everyone who looks at it that you're supporting laid-off Detroit auto workers).
You can also get the Seiko that gamecockdoc posted on the last page (and mod it up, apparently).
Most Citizens and Tissots are in that range as well.
Spoiler: spoiler for size
You could also get a g shock rangeman or frogman for around $500 but they might not go with your suit.
Again, I never said only fanboys. But yes, there are a ton of Apple fanboys. You seem to be one of them. Sorry if my comments upset you.
Apparently not as subjective as "timeless", which seems to cover almost any watch.
I dont disagree that there aren't, as there is with almost every single product. My point is to use that in this instance is wrong because the volume of sales would support that it's way more than just fanboys who are buying it.
I did not buy the watch, just for the record.
Or it shows there's a lot of Apple fanboys out there.
you are quite dumb
Sorry I offended your Apple fanhood.
That's a very nice piece. Simple yet elegant.
The volume of buyers =/= usefulness (at least for me). I LOVE LOVE LOVE the design of the Sport version, but I can't see myself using it for anything other than fitness tracking - and I won't pay $349 for that functionality.
I never said it was useful, as I am not buying one either.
I'm simply stating that this volume does not equate to fanboys, it equates to way more than that. If this were 10 years ago I would agree about fanboys, but you don't become the biggest company in the world with just fanboys.
Who says that "fanboys" have to be in the minority? Can't fanboys still exist for a popular product/company? I dont see why not
Do you read?
Apple is not the most valuable company in the world. I'm sure that's devastating news for you.
I read fine. Nothing in your post contradicts the fact that there are a lot of Apple fanboys.
Not saying you did, just that it's an extremely profitable part of the Apple lineup (60% margin? HOLY FUCK!) with limited functionality IMO.
What does this have to do with anything I've talked about?
should have qualified it with publicly traded companies, but i know how dense you are and fixate on verbatim as opposed to the idea of a statement
I'm not arguing with you, just adding to the conversation.
do you really need me to qualify it to the NYSE for you? you understood my sentiment
I gotcha. dbl dumb just gets me mad.
I think the margins are still off but I'm sure it has the same mark up as other products so it will be profitable. I just never understood the idea of the smart watch.
I'm just throwing anything out that will rustle your Apple fanboy jimmies and laughing at how seriously you defend anything Apple.
I dont defend the watch at all.
soooooo can we start a new watch buying thread that doesn't have any apple talk?
Glad I've learned that apple fanboys no longer exist bc they sell so much
Do it in another thread
Definitely. Shop the watch sites / Amazon / Hodinkee for what you like & buy from an authorized dealer...
Jesus can we take this apple stuff somewhere else. Interrupting someone actually asking for watch buying help.
Ray McKigney & anyone else...
I don't want to take away from any business for any MBers, but I had a really good experience with Leonardo Jewelers in NJ. The wife got my Tissot thru them. The rep went above & beyond, their customer service was excellent & we got a great deal. Look over what they have & pm me if you want my rep's info... I'll let him know you are "from the internet" & hopefully save you a few bucks. They have an excellent variety as well
Modding is pretty fun. I did it on one of mine.
that seiko skx007 is $140
"Wife" officially gave me my wedding gift
Looking at making the jump and buying a rolex. Anyone have any insight into this? Anyone know if you can get a discount or deal on these?
if you are asking how to get a discount deal then you dont have enough money to buy one
both have been solid additions
Have one. You can get discounts, but you have to be discreet about it. Dealers can lose their license for discounting.
Lol, funny I should have known I was asking for a response like that.
I am not going to go crazy but this is the one I want. And yes I can afford it lol.
This is what I was thinking, I know certain products they are extremely strict on how its priced. That was really my question, is how are the price locked? Does it even matter to shop around?
My Hamilton looks sharp and it was only around $400
