Overall size is the same?
They’re both 40mm.
Rolex? No I just want a laco.
Only purchase manual watches. Hard pass
Was just referring to the looks of it.
That 2007 GMT you are looking at does not have a ceramic bezel. Knowing what I know now, I would never buy a watch at that price point without one. I wouldn’t buy a $1,000 watch without one.
This thread is going to get me into trouble
That's the point... 3 years ago, dblplay1212 was flipping out about a $450 Seiko Prospex PADI purchase & has progressed to the $10k-$35k Rolex.
My wife has always said you're a bad influence.
Cufflinks is the 3rd.
This thread sent me from a Citizen Eco Drive to a Tag Heuer Aquaracer to a Rolex 50th anniversary Sea-Dweller after a year wait w/my AD. Fuck y’all. And thanks.
this Domino's Pizza Rolex Air King
My wife got me cuff links that are a working movement. Tremendous conversation piece.
Still rocking my aquaracer and happy to be doing so
Welcome to Team 126600. GOAT Team, IMO.
Omega 8804 movement is an automatic. You purchase manual but not automatic?
Omega 1861 is manual, which I own. While I appreciate auto movements, I have a strong preference for manual movements. My favorite part of each day is waking up & winding one of my manual watches... I don't have the same connection with my autos
I find myself just staring at it throughout the day. Grew up poor af and the thought of a watch like this was basically the same as an island in the Bahamas.
That’s fair, I have a few mechanicals that I love. But I also love showing off the automatics in their winder in my study.
Pretty sure I’m going to have to pick this one up.
Just kopped this as my second watch. Didn't want to break the bank and was mainly looking at most bang for the buck. Needed to be on a rubber strap (I know I could have just swapped bands, but I am lazy). I love the navy/black gradient on the dial. 42mm Hamilton Khaki Field was a very close runner up.
- Sapphire (no AR coating though, but sapphire is a mandatory for me)
- 80 hour power reserve
- Ceramic bezel
- Screw down crown
- Display case back (which I really enjoy)
- Markers on the bezel are not easily legible in a lot of lightings (see video)
- Hour and minute hands are too thick IMO
- Not a huge fan of the date wheel at the 6 o'clock
Nice looking piece. Powermatic is a fabulous movement & one of the best values for your $$$ out there
That's a great watch. I think our pro/con list on that watch align closely. I'd swap out that particular rubber strap because I hate Tissot's "T" design on the strap. The caseback is gorgeous.
Just came in today. I didn't go for the blue dial just for color coordination purposes. Honestly just what I wanted and pretty much what I was expecting. The crystal and bezel really look great in well-lit environments. Really the only slight criticisms I have are that I wish that the bezel markers were engraved (would definitely pay extra for that as it would make this appear much more high-end) and I really wish they could use that beautiful vintage Tissot logo they use on the Visodates. Date window at 6 really works well here actually.
I'll take it any day for $451 shipped.
Joma actually has a warehouse a few minutes walk away so it came overnight.
Just bought a 1984 Rolex DateJust 18kt/SS Jubilee Diamond Dial. It'll be out for sale in 30 Days
I love the watch & don't have an issue with the bezel not being engraved. The date window is seamless. Splitting hairs, but don't like the "T" on the second hand... remove that & it would be just about perfect.
I really love it thus far, have been wearing it exclusively since I got it. Currently only losing 1s/day. The date window is seamless and I've seen other people mention the T and I don't like it either, but I hardly notice it TBH.
Perfect for what I wanted it for.
Bitches love patina.
just bought this Think I can get 1k out of it
Ugh this this is gorgeous.
I have been lusting over this for a few weeks. Absolutely gorgeous. But, at that price point, I am not sure I could ever pull the trigger. The color scheme of the watch naturally inhibits what you could wear with it. I suppose putting a more traditional leather strap on it would dress it up.
Your watchmaker's favorite watchmaker.
By my 33rd birthday (turning 31 next month), I'd really like to buy a chronograph.
I really love the Speedmaster, but there are so many fucking variations I feel like it's saturated and watered down. A ceramic Daytona is my grail, but not within the stratosphere of my budget. Thinking about a stainless steel Daytona or a VC Overseas.
If a VC overseas is in your budget, then a ceramic daytona is too. Also don't get the VC, get an AP.
I’m not a big AP guy, but I have thought about it. The used market for the VC is much less expensive than a ceramic Daytona from what I’ve seen.
Just a couple random ass examples. Not what I would actually buy.
Pardon my ignorance but what's AP and VC?
tbqh i would make love to that daytona
Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin
Cunty Swiss watch brands
Ahh, I see. Thanks.
How do you envision using it? A daily? Dress watch? Purely casual sport watch? I think the answers to those questions helps narrow the field some.
had this new band put on my moon watch, loving it. Very comfortable....
Gotcha i was thinking buying a VC overseas new. I think AP makes the best steel watch on the market, so I'm biased.
Totally should have bought the Speedy at the Brisbane airport for $3,800 out the door
Oh shit that’s a good deal
I'm a fair negotiator. It's just offset by my frugality
Just kopped my first dress watch. Affordable piece but Swatch Group FTW IMO
I'm done until my next big purchase. I will continue to remind myself that I'm done.
