I thought the exact same thing when I saw that keyboard
Haha, I love AskMen's Watch Snob.
Imagine buying 800 acres and still having to work on your own land.
Sounds miserable and bougie.
I'd suggest you look at crown & caliber here in Atlanta for consignment. A good work buddy of mine in Dallas had them sell an auto tag for him and he was pleased with the result.
How much bigger/thicker is the deep sea than sub, is it a 42 or 44mm? And thicker too, right?
Tarheel Kyle right here, step your keyboard game up, THF!
Really like this timex line, I have two expedition chronographs. One is my all black watch, the other is a gunmetal color I wear on nato straps.
I just bought a Eco-drive. I feel so poor compared to you guys but I love it.
40 mm v. 44 mm
And thickness is 13 mm v. 17.6 mm
I could never wear a deep sea b/c it's just too damn big
Talk to me about that shirt.
Liked for correct usage of "bougie."
Yea its a 44 mm and its a lot thicker. So its a lot heavier as well.
Thanks for the heads up. I may look into that.
Need some advice. I have a Tag Formula One Chronograph with the metal bracelet. Im looking to get a second watch with a more simple face and a leather band. Looking to spend probably anywhere from $500-800. Possibly automatic since this would become my typical daily wear. Brands? Models?
For reference my current watch below
Can't really get an automatic in the 500-800 range.
On the high end, I like the Oris Artelier. You should be able to find one in your range if you look hard enough.
On the low end, I like the Hamilton Jazzmaster.
This was 888 a few days ago. May want to keep an eye out.
This is the advice I was looking for. Thanks
I like Citizen watches. Got a couple.
I like them as well.
Oh I love it. A tag is my goal in the next three years.
Any desire to sell/trade the one you've got? I've got a simpler faced automatic Tag.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but that price range is just kind of a dead zone for automatic watches. If you're set on getting one, I'd suggest saving some more money.
I have a few Seiko autos I quite like I've gotten even cheaper than that (inc mint bullhead worth more that I got for $300 if I remember right). Obviously not a "nice watch" but they have quite the following for a reason. If it's an only watch though or only auto I'd agree with the Iowan and save up for something better.
They are out there, but the movement quality & options increase once you're $800+
No I wasnt being sarcastic at all. Sorry if it came off that way. I know next to nothing about watch movements, so I'm glad you said this. Ill focus my attention on non-automatic watches.
Not really. I got this tag as an 18th birthday present from my dad, so I would rather not part with it.
I definitely want to try to get a good quality watch, and looks like I wont be able to get than in an automatic in my price range.
I really like the look of the Baume and Mercier you linked. Little expensive though.
Hamilton & Tissot are your best options at that price
a couple more in your range Wywan Bwowna
And like I said earlier. I dont have to go with automatic. Just threw it out as an option. Also, looking for a white face I think because the Tag is black.
Like the look of this Oris. Is this a good movement? Again, I know next to nothing, I just want something good quality for the price. Not a prettied up fossil.
stric006 Any advice?
There are plenty of automatic options in the sub $800 range, but you have to go with a micro brand. I have two watches from a company called Halios that are fantastic quality. Example: http://halioswatches.com/halios-delfin/
I've spent a decent amount of time in the micro brand dive watch world so could make some other suggestions. Going used is an option as well. Check out www.watchrecon.com. I've bought and sold there with absolutely no issues.
The issue with some of those micro brands is that the highly sought after models can be difficult to obtain brand new or you have to wait forever for them to come in stock. There is lots of "flipping" in that community so the used market can be super helpful. People will essentially buy watches on a whim, never wear them, then flip for the next impulse purchase. I got tired of waiting for a new pre-order round for that Halios Delfin so bought new/used. Depending on model/brand, resale can actually be higher. I have a Halios 1000M (aka Puck) that I could get 1k for when I paid $750 new.
I would look into
Oris is a great swiss brand. I have 2 of their watches and love both. In terms of name recognition domestically, I'd say that they are a slight step down from tag, but a big upgrade over the Hamiltons and tissots of the world. Imo.
Eta - they may be right in the middle between tag and Hamilton. I'm probably biased because they're my favorite brand
Not as concerned with name recognition as much as quality of product. But thanks for the information. Actually leaning towards the Oris right now
Recently got a Luminox for 1 year service at my job. Was thinking about changing out the band on it. Any suggestions?
I think that Oris is a step above Tag. I really like mine and also like the fact that not everyone has them. I have a TT1 diver on rubber.
Really love the unique, vintage look of this Oris... Bezel & date hand
Might look good with a nato?
While we're on the oris love fest, this is the diver I waited for years for them to release. I love it.
Co-worker of mine just bought the exact watch, I think... Beautiful
Thanks. Not a bad option at all. I think my wrist would prefer it. I want a band that allows less friction.
They are pretty comfortable. And cheap, so you can get a few different color combinations.
Really like this. Do they make it with a white face?
What is the model name? I tried to reverse image search it, but couldnt find the name
It's the Oris Big Crown Original Pointer Date
This is it with the white face & leather strap:
Another cool watch in the Tag realm for 600-900 is the Longines Hydroconquest.
Where are you seeing a Longines for $600-900?
I want a rolex hulk, Green bezel black face sub. Are they worth the extra money?
nvm. I thought the hulk was green on green but looks like they make a black dial one.
