I’m currently torn between these 2 for Worldtimers. FC is Citizen owned but the watches are made in-house in Geneva. Resale value is subpar but that doesn’t mean anything to me as I buy to keep and only buy new.
My opinion doesn’t really matter regardless. I Stan for Nomos nearly as much as BrickTamland does Seiko & Fudd does shitty deployment clasps
You put the Nomos on my radar. Ideally I’d go towards the JLC geophysic universal as originally planned but my goal is to have different pieces of different brands in the watch box.
Negative. All of my Seikos have been online purchases. Unless I can find one locally, I think I’m buying from this site next: https://www.chronograph-divers.com/seiko-presage-spb165j1/
I slept on it & think you should go with the FC. But get a Nomos too… something more in line with their Bauhaus roots
That’s a nice one, that I typically see for a slightly higher price. How do you decide which sites to buy from? Thanks for answering questions
Just go on the Seiko / GS website & do a search for Local ADs. Make some calls. Call a few out of state, as you can avoid sales tax. You should find tons of Seiko dealers, but GS will be a little more sparse. Seiko - Should be able to manage 20-30% off MSRP, from experience (including sales tax discount) - I got this for both dblplay1212 & I on a Seiko Prospex diver. GS - You'll probably be in the 10-20% range I have ADs for both here in Jax, so PM me, if you want/need a contact.
I just did a quick online search to see if others had used that site because of the low prices. Some watch forum posts talked about them being reputable, so I’d be fine buying from them. But as Jorts said, if you find a local dealer that can get that watch, you have a starting point for the price discussion.
Technically it’s MY Tudor dealer since you purchased your Tudor elsewhere. But your main dealer gets stuff insanely quick. Either way, it’s nice to have them on our side. No sales tax, free shipping, and hood service goes a long way in this hobby.
Good people of the watch thread. I’m hoping someone can help me out with one of my grandfathers watches. From my understanding he bought this watch while stationed in Europe during the war in part because it would withstand altitude (no clue if that’s a thing) Watch is in rough shape but still runs when wound. It’s hard to read in the picture but it’s a girard perregaux gyromatic. Any info would be appreciated!
He was 6’3” and a tail gunner. Chute wouldn’t fit with him in the tail. He would have been a very dead man had he been shot down.
One of those is a knock-off of the other & you got it backward. I like the vintage look, feel & want to love it, but cannot get past the length of the lugs.
My 3.0 stopped charging so I went and picked up a 6.0 yesterday. Went with the Nike version on because they were all out of the regular space gray 44mm’s. And now I just fixed the 3.0 so haha. I know this doesn’t really count but I just can’t bring myself to buy something real right now.
Saw the apology video today…what a bunch of douchebags. They always seemed like fuckheads on the bit of their content that I actually watched, but this was absurd Fucking with viewers is one thing, but doing it to business contacts and friends was unbelievable Not to mention it sounds like they have been bullshitting people on a number of things (fake giveaways, vip member benefits, other shit) Wouldn’t be surprised if they see some civil suits submitted agains them
I'm glad they're getting away from the spring drive indicator (I think.) Too much clutter. The white birch model is a big step forward in an already amazing dial portfolio.
Not a GS fan. Will stick with my SK divers. My 3 watch rotation is Explorer II 16750 on oyster bracelet, Speedy Pro on rotating straps, and my pepsi seiko on rubber strap.
Speaking of Explorer 2… possibly grabbing a 2007 polar model tomorrow for $4000-4500. Friend of a friend needs some $$$ & I’m the benefactor
Friend of a friend… apparently he was saving it for his son, that is a complete shit-head. Having my AD look it over to verify later this week & running it by the wife. Should be a easy sell though. Already got quote from Bob’s at a $3k profit.
