Is Mido a good brand? I was just looking around jomashop and found this one I really like. Searched google for the movement and it seems to get good reviews http://www.jomashop.com/mido-watch-m86054118.html Spoiler
That one is called the "Kermit" and it was an anniversary edition. They are only available previously worn and they go for about $8-10k.
I had a Halios bluering for a while that I quite liked. If I remember correctly I made money on it. It was a quality watch
Wife bought me a Baume & Mercier for Christmas. I really like it but i'm concerned about a couple things. I wear my watches 24/7. I shower & sleep wearing them. Now I'm fine with taking it off for showers and keeping it off until i wake up and get dressed, but I'm wondering what i will do if I'm out and decide to go swimming next summer. I really dont want to take my watch off for swimming and other random activities. Is a leather band something I should avoid? I've never had a leather band. This will be my primary everyday watch. Now I'll take it off if i change my brakes or clean a deer and showers, but i dont want to take it off when i bbq burgers on a tuesday or cut the grass. Does that make sense? Also, i know nothing about brands of watches. Advice and opinions please.
Seiko 007 would likely check all of those boxes and save your wife a couple hundred bucks. http://www.longislandwatch.com/Seik...trk=gdfV25409_a_7c3024_a_7c11432_a_7cSKX007K2
Dont get me wrong. I would enjoy a nice watch. Maybe I just need to grow up and wear two watches? Dress watch for work/church/dinners/nice events and my pos timex ironman for everything else?
Yep. That's how it starts. I think I'm at 8. That's a nice watch from a good maker. There are a lot of interesting boutique diver companies that could fill your other requirements for $200+.
That is a great watch but a few issues. It is designed the same way as your BM and made more for a dress occasions (weddings, office, parties etc). That is not a watch that you want to wear while swimming or doing anything to active. Also that website is lying to you. That watch does not retail for 2900. It retails for 2400.
It really depends on what price you want to pay. I've had divers from $100 to 1k, of varying quality. I can give you some brands with a range, but since you really seem to want a watch that won't be babied, I'd probably buy a 2nd hand watch from the sales corner at watchuseek. I've done it several times. People who are into flipping watches are usually pretty honest with their condition and that community as a whole is reputable.
Ok. I found my solution. Im keeping the watch my wife bought me (i'll just wear it to the office/dinners/nice stuff) and I'll pick up one of these for everyday use. My buddy can get them for around $100-125. https://www.luminox.com/watch-collection/sea/original-navy-seal-3000-series/xs-3001-bo.html I feel good about this plan.
This thread has started the itch again. I'm getting a custom cordovan shell strap for my oris made and will most likely flip one of my cheaper watches for something nicer.
that's what I do. not that citizens are nice dress watches. Not at work one of my citizens, at work or working out I'm wearing a $30 timex I bought at walmart. Recently had my work watch destroyed so I just went to walmart and picked up the exact same one. Spoiler critical trauma float nurse so it takes a beating
I guess so. Im looking at getting this one... https://www.luminox.com/watch-collection/sea/navy-seal-colormark-chrono-3080-series/xs-3081-bo.html Waiting to see what he can actually get it for.
Ill keep you posted. I sent him a link to that watch without the chronograph and thats when he said 100-125. So i assume the chronograph one will be a little more. We're both on vacation so i'll get with him next week to figure out the details.
Thx. I love it too. Im wearing it right now, while watching tv, since i cant wear it during the day (riding 4-wheelers, working cows, deer hunting).
Im also fine with or without the chronograph. I just use it a lot for cooking. Especially when i bbq anything. As soon as i put the meat on the pit i start the chronograph. I could get used to using the bezel but i would rather have a chronograph.
This is my next watch purchase My question is where do you guys usually shop around for the best price online? Never bought a watch online https://www.google.com/search?safe=...9.43.5052.3.v3a-3X3WEtM#imgrc=JPiCj14JFRjsZM:
I havent been pricing watches but my wife used jomashop.com No clue if she got a good deal or not though. I kinda dont want to know either, since she already bought the watch and her money is my money and my money is her money. If that makes sense.
Jomashop looks to be the site that's coming in the cheapest thus far. Since I've been looking around, that Movado is ~$1,200 at retailers but on Joma it's $699... Since you're able to vouch for the site I will probably be getting it a lot sooner than I anticipated Edit: the Mrs. has some good taste. I wonder if yours comes in a brown band
Well hold off for a day for my approval. My wife bought me two watches from that site. Both arrived as they should but they idea was for me to choose the one watch i liked the best and return the other one. Well we'll be returning the other watch tomorrow. I would say the ability to return a purchase is crucial to recommending a website.
And fuck you to whoever posted the Oris diver on the previous page. It's pretty. I think i may have to buy one in the next year or so. :)
I'd also recommend jomashop. Or just throw the model into google and hit the shopping tab. Watches are almost like cars... There is usually wiggle room and they are generally marked way up at big box places.
Looking to buy just a <$100 watch that can take a decent beating. Are the ones in that price range on jomashop worth it? total watch noob.
Luminox aren't my favorite, but I would be willing to jump on that train if possible for $100-150. Please let me know.
Didn't even think about it but look up mvmt watches. I have one and really like it and they're right around the $100 price point
If you're willing to go to the top of your range, I would go with an orient mako. You should be able to find one at around $100.
