There’s going to be 100 of them. It’s a status symbol for the über enthusiasts. Winning the lottery twice wouldn’t get you one.
Yes, everyone knows the value of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona has historically been correlated to Dogecoin market cap.
I'm pretty obsessed with the look of the Tudor GMT (and pepsi rolex but that is out of my price range). The problem is I have basically no use for the GMT functionality but for 1-2 times per year. What do people do with the GMT hand when they aren't traveling?
I have mine set to the local time of our company’s other office overseas. Keeps me from having to do timezone math.
I use the functionality of my g-shock literally never. No shame in having a GMT function, or chronograph, or 1000m of water resistance that you don’t use.
Decided to get married in Paris next month and wanted a low key new dress watch to pair with a morning tux (since it's generally taboo but fuck if I'm not wearing a watch.) Picked up a JLC Grand Reverso Duodate, should get here this week. The subtle GMT complication.
what do y'all think of the new Ranger from Tudor? https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-all-new-slightly-bigger-tudor-ranger-live-pics-and-pricing i've been thinking of getting an Explorer on a strap as a beater and I can save a bunch of money just getting this tudor imo
I like it for what it is. But realize it’s not a Rolex (no Tudor is) and it won’t replace the itch for it. I’m currently waffling between and Explorer II and BB Pro. They aren’t the same but have similar functionality. One fits my life better but the other is much nicer.
Iirc, in British a morning tux is black tie no tails and an evening tux is white tie and tails. edit - nope I was wrong morning dress: And evening dress can be either white tie or black tie tuxedo.
What's the rest of your collection look like? That's not my favorite Seamaster, and I think that GMT BB is sexy, so I'd lean that way if you don't have anything similar.
Arrived yesterday. Digging it so far, the guilloche on the silver dial is quite beautiful. Spoiler: Reverso
I’d go Pepsi on the bracelet as well if you only have one other watch. More classic and will give you more versatility.
Traditionally, you're not supposed to wear a watch with any formal attire, with the thought being that you shouldn't care what time it is when you're at a formal event. Obviously, that's not the case anymore, thanks in large part to James Bond.
Have you tried either of them on? I didn’t like how the Aqua Terra felt on my wrist. It didn’t sit right. I own a BB GMT. It’s great, but a but of a chunky monkey. If you go this route (from an AD), buy the bracelet version and ask for them to throw in one of the leather or fabric straps for free. I also really like the Everest rubber strap on it.
So I went and tried everything on. Wife and some liked the black bb58 and the bb58 926(?) that is made from silver was next before the gmt. Thoughts? They also had a two and a half year wait on the yacht master rhodium. May put my name on that list too.
You can't go wrong with the BB58. It's a great daily wear piece. The 926 is merely the sterling silver variant.
+1 for the BB58. As much as I like my blue, I may prefer the black/gilt original. Either way, beautiful watch.
And I really cooled on the rhodium YM. Thought that was going to be my next Rolex for sure, not so much anymore.
not sure if it's Sterling, but definitely silver edit: Spoiler Sterling Silver vs 925 Silver You might be wondering what is sterling silver? Sterling silver is an alloy made from 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent alloy. An alloy is essentially the mixture of two (or more) elements taken from the periodic table. Regarding sterling silver, the alloys can include zinc, copper or nickel. While the United States, Europe and most of the world enforces a strict standard of sterling silver at 92.5 silver to 7.5 copper or other alloys, there are other standards. Some countries, including France have a standard of 95 percent, however 92.5 is the most common. So, that leaves the question: what is 925 silver? Ultimately, it’s the same thing as sterling silver! Sterling silver and 925 silver are both made from the same silver alloy blend, with the only key difference being the name.
Really, really love this. slogan119 can attest... I've been seriously bouncing the Reverso around as my next piece.
