Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... I think you should keep going, it was pretty entertaining reading last night
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... there isn't gonna be long thread of arguing on this thread because there is alot mutual respect on this board overall. Even if manchester city is a hated a team i dint think any of us on the board are hard to get along with
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... Don't have much else. I'll praise their midfield as they were all great. Yaya was awesome and is an awesome player. He is easily City's best player IMO. He'll be the best CDM in the world playing like that more consistently. Good performance today but City still didn't look great defensively. No lead is safe. Remember City beat us 4-2 last year and we should have had 2 goals in stoppage time. Team gives up way too many great opportunities and Hart was there to save em again. Save on Torres was awesome and he got a touch on the Gerrard shot as well. There is no urgency getting out on those 25 yard shots and Gerrard should have made them pay. For the dominating first half performance they really didn't have many great opportunities. 2 AJ shots, the nice goal, and only 1-2 other opportunities. They need to get more quality opportunities. Thought Liverpool was playing better 2nd half and then Reina screwed up again and then a questionable penalty. Good game City and if they continue they should beat out Tottenham for #4. It will be close IMO. Team does have to create more opportunities and limit those outside shots.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... He did. Reina didn't look good today. He looked unsure and was made a fool on that corner. Liverpool did have a game mid-week and it showed. Didn't show for many of the City players though.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... well hello sillys watson s everyone who dons the red
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... I don't understand how you can really say that City is ruining the sport. I guess people don't like the idea of a club doing everything they can (legally I might add) to win. City's hierarchy appears to be irrational, but they are doing whatever they can to turn a shit hole/joke of a club into a power in England. I'd rather have seen them build a squad with talented youngsters from England (this is a joke, guys), but I respect owners that will do whatever they feel necessary to win so long as it's legal. And, let's not even pretend that City started this bull shit. Look at Chelsea, for example, they are a club with a similarly insignificant history that rose to the top with the help of a rich owner... I think people forget that Milan scammed Chelsea out of 30 million pounds for a 29 year old/washed up striker just a few years ago (a move that still makes Shocker's heart ache). I'm not claiming that Chelsea is on City's level, because City is clearly in a league of their won, but it's unreasonable to say that City has ruined the sport. Let's not forget about the world's most successful team, Real Madrid... They are a club that has been financed by the Spanish government for decades. So, it's not just previously unsuccessful English clubs that are "ruining the sport." Real Madrid is the ultimate example of a team that isn't on the same playing field as everyone else. I mean, their spending has been just as stupid, if not more stupid, than City's over the last decade and they have little to show for it despite playing in the weakest of the elite leagues. And, how about Barcelona? What about United? Both are operating dangerously in debt... The fact of the matter is that the haves separated from the have nots in European football as happens in all sports. City previously had nothing and they are trying to join the elite. I don't like the way they are going about accomplishing that goal, but I'm not going to rip a club for trying to join the elite in a league where a club like United has dominated for two decades due MOSTLY to its financial advantages... In the end, you just have to hope that your club is able to spend its limited resources more wisely than teams like Madrid and City.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... They'll go broke and be bottom tier at the premier level within a decade. The difference between say Real, and City is that Real has the means to spend that much. City does not.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... United and Real dominate because of their revenue. City has no revenue. They are just throwing money at something and have absolutely no way to ever have a balanced budget. Chelsea are very close to a balanced budget but City have already way outspent them. If you wanna buy a team and then throw some money at it then fine as you can raise the brand. How City is doing it they will have to have these owners around forever or it's gonna be a firesale eventually as I'm sure it will. What is so crazy at buying young English players? Man U bought Rooney at 17, Arsenal have very good English youngsters, Liverpool had Gerrard and Carragher as pups and Chelsea with Lampard and Terry. I count 22 signings in 2 years over 10 million each and already half a dozen look to be on the way out but make way too much money to be sold. There are smart signings and then there is going overboard.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer... Nothing left to say. I wrote about 2 pages worth of rambles that could be summed up in about 3 sentences. We'll have to wait and see what happens. That family has absolutely scary money and if they choose to be with Man City for the foreseeable future they will turn into a power. If Mancini can't do it they'll find someone that can and spend more money. How UEFA and the FA chooses to regulate this type of spending is also an area of interest.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Tevez = roo ins) welp... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=852297&sec=transfers&cc=5901 at least they still have Balotelli
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Tevez = roo ins) Let me handle this for NK. "Fine, sell him and buy Carroll "
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Tevez = roo ins) Since NK is such a generous spirit I will not comment on this matter.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Tevez = roo ins) There will be an official statement from the NK camp in roughly 30 minutes. Got to run to the beer store and get some dinner.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Tevez = roo ins) Buy some Newcastle, it will be your only chance to get something from Newcastle that you actually want.
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Tevez = roo ins) I just picked up a twelve pack to celebrate the victory
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Tevez = roo ins) Okay official statement follows I Carlos Tevez. The day he signed with us was a great day. His first season was amazing. He was exactly what a City fan wants in a player; hard working, never say die attitude, and a motor that does not stop. It did not hurt that we got after our rival in Trafford did not resign him. The rumblings of him being homesick started immediately. He was allowed to go home at several points last season including the birth of premature daughter in the spring. When he came back to the club; it was a different Carlos. He was much more emotional and the stories of homesick continued. Real Madrid made a move for him this summer but was turned back. The fights with Mancini in the locker room were numerous. Carlos wants to win. There is no question about that. He has proven that on the pitch each and every time he goes out there. It is sad that he wants to leave Manchester but I understand it. He is homesick. His family is 7000 miles away and he has two little girls. I am the same age as him so I can not imagine if I had a family and was over 7000 miles away from them. I hope he finds the happiness that he seeks. You do not replace Carlos Tevez. We were already looking at adding another striker or two in the winter window. The question is that we now need at least two strikers. I hope that we make the right decisions on the moves in this window because it will decide if we go from title pretender to title contender.

Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Sheikh whips Tevez, City = roo ins) Golden orphan at it again. Also pledged to play with Zlatan. "I am delighted to receive this award,'' said Balotelli to Tuttosport. "Who should have won this award but me? Two years ago I finished sixth and a year ago fourth. It was finally my turn. "I don't know who Wilshere is but the next time I play against Arsenal I will keep a close eye on him. "Perhaps I can show him (Wilshere) the Golden Boy trophy and remind him that I won it!
Re: ITT: We discuss how City are ruining soccer (Sheikh whips Tevez, City = roo ins) What are my thoughts on the Arsenal match today, Alex.
