Honestly I'm not too big a fan of this whole premise b/c the lines I place some bets at are a lot different than the ones posted to choose from. Ex. I have Nebraska tonight -2.5 and that would be a best bet but the line now is at -3.5. I also have some O/U that I would consider best bets that have moved 2-3 points in my favor. I wouldn't call them a best bet anymore. So pretty much the best bets I have to list are the lines that haven't moved from my original bet and aren't really my best bets at all. I'd say my top 5 bets based on what I bet them at are: 313 Eastern Mich Central Mich O51 364 Colorado St +7.5 vs Utah 303 Nebraska -2.5 at Missouri 306 Lousiana Tech Nevada U 58.5 371 Kentucky +11.5 at South Carolina My top 5 bets based on the lines posted: Lousiana Tech Nevada U 58 TCU -10.5 CSU +7.5 Idaho San Jose St U52 Georgia Tenn U46.5
I like their QB. I like their RB/WR. I like their pass rush. I like their run D. I like the fact that Alabama has played on the road once, against Kentucky and gave up a ton of yards. I like the fact that Ole Miss has been counted out. I like the fact that Ole Miss is the best team Bama will have played to date. I like the fact that OM always plays Bama close. especially in Oxford. I like the fact that Bama isn't a strong passing team and won't be able to take advantage of the OM secondary. I like the fact that USC exposed some holes in OM OL...and Houston Nutt has had some time to fix it.
yeah, Im playing it b/c im a homer but our run D looked pretty sad last week. I hope our D gets it together b/c without Hightower they didn't look like the same group. I think Saban moved the little white guy that was replacing Hightower back to his original position and we might be starting a trufresh in the middle . If so I expect Snead to throw at him all day If Bama moves the ball, it will be on Mcelroys back I think. Here's the drew Davis/Hardy matchup I was worried about in wk 1. outside of a couple of drives we couldn't run on Kentucky so mcelroy is probably going to have a lot of 5step throws. If Bama can just make it through that first half, I think we can seperate a little in the second, hopefully anyways
Not to sound like a dick because I respect your opinion and have tailed you abunch this year. But, You think Ole Miss is better than VT? You still like OM's D even though they haven't played a team with a pulse on Offense yet? Bama giving up 300 yards to Kentucky, away, and in a let down spot is a ton of yards? Still like Snead, only completing 51% of his passes and has thrown 5 picks, behind a line that has given up 3 sacks a game and 4 vs. vandy? Not sure how much you have watched bama but they can throw the ball when they want/need to, and I have been very impressed with how the Oline has played.
I think Ole Miss is hands down better than Virginia Tech. I guess a ton of yards is an exaggeration..they did give up 20 first downs....but, how was Alabama in a let down spot? Unless the Arkansas game is a bigger rivalry than I'm aware of..I've seen Ala play VT, Ark, and Kentucky...I've seen every Ole Miss game.... in 2008, Snead, after four games, going into the Florida game, had thrown 6 TD's to 7 INT's...And they were 2-2 with wins over Memphis and Samford. They allow 2 sacks a game...And Vanderbilt recorded 1 sack against Ole Miss..
If it is ok that I start late I would like to have Neb/Mizzou U 52.5, Duke, Wisconsin, Florida, and GT.
Well it's the only way to standardize things for a contest. It keeps people from posting crazy lines. The premise of the board is to help people and we do that by using widely available lines. Posting the EMich/CMich Over 51 pick wouldn't help anyone since it's at 54 and 54.5 everywhere. Same thing with the Nebraska pick that is -3.5 and -4 most places.
Ya I get that...but most people have the ability to check other's threads when they post their picks. I try to post mine as soon as I place them. So I don't think that the whole standardized thing really helps people as much as say following a poster who's done well. I guess it's the best way to do it, but it's also a skewed perception of how good people are at picking their 5 favorite games.
All late games since I didn't get my picks in before the noon games. GT Bama Michigan Iowa Over 47.5 Michigan Uconn
Here's mine for week 6... Alabama -6 @ Ole Miss Stanford -1 @ Oregon State Oklahoma -28 vs Baylor LSU +9 vs Florida Michigan +8 @ Iowa
