Apparently I was way off because I thought he'd be a good fit. He never really impressed at Porto but seemed to turn a corner with Spain and had them rolling. Obviously it's all fallen apart
Clearly, though I think everyone assumed that the huge overlap between Real and the national team would make this transition much smoother than it's been.
The writing was on the wall when Ronaldo left and nobody was brought in as a replacement. Those are impossible reins to hand over to any coach. Perez can say he’s going to give lope time, but if things really turn south, it’s perez’s head that’s going to roll. Even if you’re waiting on Neymar or Mbappe, you have to at least do something in the interim.
I mean it was always going to be a transition year but it's not as though Ronaldo and Zidane leaving meant that the team was no longer any good. There is far too much talent to be losing to Levante, Alaves and CSKA. The abortion in Seville was inexcusable. That's 100% on the coaches and players. The notion that any of this will be put on Perez, the man who brought the Club the prized 10th...and 11th/12th/13th, is absurd.
Finally got around to watching Tuesday's match and really wish I hadn't. More the of the same complacency and sloppiness. Afraid Sunday is going to be ugly even without Messi
Literally everyone not named Ceballos has regressed this season. The backline is still repeatedly exposed (with no help from the midfield).
Hope Flo goes scorched earth Oil Sheik style and spends an offensive amount of money next summer because new blood is needed.
Hahahaha this is the worst I’ve ever seen Holy fuck does this show just how amazing Ronaldo and Zidane are
Sounds like the board doesn't trust Conte and Solari is going to be promoted from Castilla as a temporary placeholder until a permenant replacement is secured.
It's official, JL out. https://www.realmadrid.com/en/news/...itter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organico "The Real Madrid C.F. board of directors, which met today, 29 October 2018, has made the decision to terminate Julen Lopetegui's contract as the club's coach. This decision, which was taken with the utmost responsibility, seeks to bring about a turnaround in the first-team's fortunes at a time when all of this season's targets are still achievable. The board considers there to be a large disparity between the quality within the Real Madrid squad, which boasts eight nominees for the next Ballon d'Or award - an unprecedented number in the club's history - and the team's results to date. The club places on record its thanks to Julen Lopetegui and all of his coaching staff for their efforts and work and wishes them all the best in their future careers. Santiago Solari will take temporary charge of the team, assuming his role as first-team coach from tomorrow, Tuesday."
How much did Lopetegui make in the last 5-6 months getting fired from two high profile jobs, €18M-€20M?
Kudos to Real for leaving Spain in complete disarray just before the WC. That 6 month experiment was well worth it.
Spain could have finished out the WC without the shenanigans, and Real could still have their now unemployed coach. This isn’t college football recruiting (evidenced by the fact that a Ronaldo replacement was not brought in).
Lucky as shit today. Meh effort from everybody not named Vinicius or Regulian. This team just may not be very good.
Reports that the club is set to announce a 10-year $1.1B (or about $50M per goal this season) renual with Adidas. So they've got that going for them.
Not sure where the attack or creativity is going to come from. Highly doubt we'll see Kroos in an advanced roll instead of a flat 4 in MF? Courtois; Odriozola, Nacho, Ramos, Reguilon; Ceballos, Casemiro, Kroos; Vazquez, Benzema, & Bale
Really nice win yesterday, Solari seems to have steadied things nicely. Benzema was fantastic and looked like the 2011 version. The young fullbacks have stepped up really impressed. Injuries fucking suck but it's been great to see the young guys step in.
Oof that was a complete asskicking from start to finish. Not the way I wanted to see them return from the break.
Crazy to think but they need at least a point tomorrow in Rome if they want to win the group and avoid he risk of drawing a giant in the R16
Never thought I'd see Modric and Varane need to be sat but both are in terrible form. Isco doesn't even make the bench.
Very nice composed effort from Bale on that first gift but the second was a very nice team goal. Great by Benzema to play Vazquez
#Real Madrid #Tottenham If you guys are interested it sounds like Luka is about to win the Ballon d'Or on Bein.
