One thing that should be emphasized is very few places in the PNW have A/C. Shit sucks. I have a place right outside North Cascades NP, way up in WA, plan was to work up there all weekend. Never gets hot b/c it's pretty in the mountains. Was going to work up there all weekend. By 10:00 AM it was already 90 and too hot for me and my 12 year old dog so I drove back. This is the fucking forecast: Spoiler Cheese n rice
Terrible, thats worse than down here in Eugene. Also hopefully you are doing a bit of brush work up at your cabin. Driving through the aftermath of the Holiday Farm Fire, it was clear the places that had defensible space had a greater likelihood of survival.
I did some preventable work this weekend, got rid of some brush and stuff. There are 2 creeks on the property and it's really wet, but fucking 115, man. They instituted a burn ban in a lot of WA this weekend -- in fucking June.
I've lived here since 2017, and each summer has been progressively worse in terms of heat/fires/etc. And everyone I talk to agrees with the new reality of regular late-summer fires and smoke, as if it's a given. Not fun.
Yeah, shit is fucked up. I have lived in oregon all of my 35 years, mid 90s was a rare toasty summer day. Now it's just the norm.
This is false. But I feel for you and other humidity peeps in this heat wave. People are going to die and I feel absolutely terrible about it.
Fair. Maybe just Seattle then https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.se...ore-air-conditioned-than-it-used-to-be/?amp=1
Hope everyone ITT without AC is dampening their sheets and putting them in the freezer a few hours before they go to bed.
My power just went out for a second. I pray to allah that it was just a reset and there isn’t an outage today.
You move out to the PNW? Waking up to 80 degrees this am was not something I am built for as a native Oregonian.
Wow, never pegged you for being either Mormon or a white supremacist. Kidding of course, some downright beautiful country.
I've never been but I do surprise myself when I end up attentively watching an hour of "Outdoor Idaho" every other week or so
Clearly this is a scheme driven by big tech using weather machines from the Bay Area to keep our property values lower so they can snatch up all our property.
i'll be honest: i couldn't tell the difference between 108 today and 102 yesterday. i'm pretty bummed that i don't have tomorrow off, though. this heat just makes me want to sit on the couch and do nothing.
