Found this little bugger crawling around my window sill this morning. Grabbed him so my dog wouldn't eat him, gonna release him in a bit. He's so adorable though. I've named him Spanky.
Owsley I drove down to Hot Springs AR the other day and in a national park down there I saw a brown snake with a black tail slithering across the road. I stopped to check it out but forgot to take my phone with me before it took off into the woods. Looked like a blacktail cribo. Think that's possible all the way up in southern Arkansas? I've never seen one before so I had to look up what it could have been. After finding an image of it I seriously think that's what it was
My dad has killed more rattlesnakes at our ranch house this summer than any other he can remember in 25 years. He went out and caught two big bull snakes that he's hoping will enjoy staying around the house to keep the rattlers at bay.
Desert kingsnakes (L. g. splendida) would be a better choice in terms of actual rattlesnake predation. You're most likely seeing more rattlesnakes because there is more vermin around, though.
Can't remember anyone ever seeing a king snake out there. I think my dad just enjoys going and finding these giant bull snakes in the evenings when he's bored. They're big enough you can just grab them by the tail and mess with them. No he keeps saying he's gonna get a couple just to have around for that reason. I think he's kind of worried about our dogs going bonkers on them though.
Nope Mama 100% 7 of them, put them in a bucket, my son and I played with them for a bit then put them in the woods I named them all Fred The one bit me but I guess I am immune to venom....
Stop ruining my fun, it was a deadly Pennsylvania brown mamba, I handled all of them and lived Play along would you
Saw this dude crossing the road today. Let him live. What kind of rattler is this? Why is the back of its body so flat? Owsley
Canebrake/timber. Flattening is a defensive manouver in order to appear larger. Kudos for letting it live.
Just saw this beaut. My dog ran right up on it and I didn't notice until he kinda steped back and pulled his head up, it must have struck at him. Dumbass dog. He was good though, I didn't have to pull him off it, he listened when I made him sit and watch it. When we walked back past this spot my dog really had his nose to the ground trying to sniff it out again. Was ready to have a new friend, I guess. Edit: Owsley
I have two snake pics from the last two weeks and every time i try to upload them it says file too big.
Did I mention he's a dumbass? Really though I was surprised at how well he listened when I told him to back up and sit down. He wanted to fuck with it, but listened to me.
I caught a bull snake once and tried to "snake train" my two ranch dogs. They each got bit in the face multiple times. Still don't understand how they didnt die with all the rattlers around.
Idk, mine usually asks what quality I want to save it as after I edit it. But I don't iPhone, so that may not be helpful.
He really didn't move after my dog ran up on him. We backed off, I took a couple pictures, and he decided it was time to turn around, went on his way. Ended up turning him around from crossing a big field, so may have inadvertently kept him from being buzzard food.
I have to have the picture pulled up on my phone the take a screen grab of the picture. Save it to your photos then you'll be able to upload it.
Love the guy just casually taking a drop in the second picture. His buddies are all "no closer to the hole, Gary!"
