I posted some of this in the punx thread already but it’s making me all nostalgic and I’ve been listening to both these bands for the past day. We opened up for these guys at a house show in OKC about 5 years ago. Now they’re sitting there with 3 million views on YouTube. Congrats to them. We played metal/crust punk heavy shit. They had to move the fridge just to fit the drum kit in. It was badass though. Heavy crusty punk and crusty folk stuff actually works quite well together. This house was so crowded the accordion player had to sit on the window sill during their set. This was a small rent house and people were crowd surfing in the living room. It was pretty awesome.

 

holy balls, I recently discovered that Kutiman had a "new" album (2016 but who cares), giving it my first run through and these tracks are blowing me away

it's like orchestral Arabian funk with folksy vocals I don't know what to do with myself right now

 

digging into Iceage's previous work, I like this song, that is all

 

Few listens of them this week as well, new album as a whole. This play is currently under review.

 

feel like this album is more of an acquired taste, it's got an emotionally organic/artistic vibe that doesn't seem as instantly satisfying to me, but I completely understand how fans who'd been on the ride from the get go with that sound would be disappointed with the new album, even if I'm enjoying that one more so far

 

Yeah, going to give it another go and them move on. So much out there to listen to, ticks a lot of boxes. Just not sure it'll click.
