No shame and no judging, gents. What is something that is generally considered bullshit or fake that you think is real, or at least has some element of truth. Astrology? Bigfoot? Conspiracies? I'll start: I believe in a sort of universal karma. That you get back what you put out into the world in terms of how you treat people and other beings. Treat people poorly, that will come back to bite you one way or the other. Treat people well, you will be treated well. This is probably not very "out there" and has a perfectly logical explanation, but whatever. I don't believe in a new world order or illuminati stuff, but I think billionaires have some sort of exit plan to get off this planet, or retire to a bunker, if needed. I have some pretty out there stuff with respect to yoga, but I'm only on my second glass of wine so far. I also think the chakras have some beneficial value.
I don't know that there's anything that would meet the bar of "out there" that I'm 100% all in on. I think a lot of the simulation theories I've heard that try to explain "where we came from, why we're here, etc" that seem to make a lot more sense than most common explanations. Also doing psychedelics while spending time in nature is something most everyone would benefit from but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for here because I would imagine most on TMB would probably agree.
That Kennedy’s assassination was orchestrated by the Mafia and the government knew/knows it, but covered it up so people wouldn’t ask too many questions about how deeply compromised it was/is.
I almost think that’s irrelevant; the bigger question was who pulled his strings. He had enough ties to the Russians and the Mafia for either to have believably hired him to do it, but it’s the Jack Ruby involvement that pushed me towards believing it was the Mafia. Ruby’s club in Dallas was apparently fairly well-known as a Mafia hangout and they had reason to go after the Kennedys.
I really want to believe in cryptozoology like bigfoot and such, but just don't see it being possible with how many cameras we have today. One of my best friends 100% believes in bigfoot. He has a few stories. Maybe some deep-sea stuff. I'm fascinated by giant squids.

Ruby was desperate and apparently a psycho; deep in debt and known for violent impulses. Probably didn’t take much pushing. The Russian ties are far more publicized and obvious; he was a Russian defector after leaving the Marines, his wife was Russian, he knew and spoke it, was an avowed communist, etc. The Mafia stuff is more implied than anything else; he had a reputation as a dangerous character, a crack shot, and most importantly wanted money. I’m sure the Mafia guys felt like his Russian ties would be a convenient blind if he failed. My further guess is that he volunteered to talk after getting caught as part of a plea deal and that’s when Ruby entered the picture.
this isn't that "out there" in a relative sense but I don't think we're alone in the universe. I think there's even a decent chance we've been visited and observed by aliens but they will never interact with us for a variety of reasons. I tend to doubt our species will ever last long enough to meet another species. we're such insignificant goobers that no aliens would be caught dead trying to interact with us, it'd be like us trying to strike up a conversation with an ant. if we survived a few thousand years and became a type II civilization (we're type 0 atm) then it might become possible we finally encounter aliens or, more likely, we would then find and observe a primitive species ourselves.
Sometimes, to make mundane days feel more entertaining, I think about aliens ‘tuning in’ and watching the stupid shit that us humans do, almost as if we are a reality series. “Let’s see what the humans are up to, on season 2023.”
That if intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe it is like a space faring civilization that died off a long time ago by killing themselves off and we will end up like them too
I 100% believe in alien life and never even contemplated putting it here because it seems so obvious. I think most people who don’t spend much time studying space fail to realize both the high likelihood of extraterrestrial life existing and the improbability of it a. being within range of us and b. having the technological development needed to make contact with it at any point before the next mass extinction event finishes our species off. We don’t even have the feasible technology to visit the closest SOLAR SYSTEM, much less the next cluster, quadrant, galaxy, etc.
seems obvious to some, less so to many others. I think of the several billion followers of Abrahamic religions for whom learning they're not God's unique creature would rock them to their spiritual core. I also just don't think a lot of people could handle the ego blow. we as a species think we have a good handle on things more or less. we rule the roost supreme on this planet and our brains, the single greatest evolutionary advancement in the billions of years of history on this planet, made all of it possible in record-time. if those people woke up tomorrow and learned we're the ants and there's something else out there with a can of Raid and an itchy trigger finger it would be widespread, mass existential crises and probably a serious run of depression throughout the globe. we've never been ego-checked as a species, for a lot of people it would basically turn their world upside-down.
The books the three body problem and the dark forest gave me moderate existential dread wrt these topics.
Maybe a long time ago this might have been seen as “out there” but idk about now. I believe we aren’t alone in the universe. I also could easily be convinced that ghosts are real. I believe animals have “souls”.
I believe dragons existed at some point in our planets history. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that so many different cultures that had no contact have legends about them.
