Pretty weak season. Mike getting high on his own supply isn't an encouraging sign for future seasons.
The Zion “I’m a business major at UH” speech was awesome. I figured he asked for $5mm hoping to get $1mm but Greg gave him everything he asked for
I mean he basically hallucinated the season so it’s amazing it turned out as good as it did. https://ew.com/the-white-lotus-crea...ated-season-3-sick-thailand-hospital-11708006
I don't think the final sequence of events, or really Rick's entire character, fit with the show at all. Disappointing end to what was a less fun season.
This season absolutely dialed back the sex/love appeal. The only characters actively practicing this season are Chelsea and Giaotuk. I don't know what that says about Mike White.
Zion's been getting a lot praise on the tv podcast that I listen to. I feel like i'm in the minority when it comes to him. I found his interactions with Greg to be cheesy.
Judging by the interviews I've read so far, it sounds like Mike White started reading people's criticisms of the first two seasons and overly gave them what they wanted. For example, in the official podcast, he goes into detail about receiving flak for what happened to Belinda in season 1, and this was his attempt at fixing that. Have we discussed the removed sex scene between Piper and Zion yet?
Same. Greg is relatively desperate to not be found out, but also Zions tactics as we were shown them should have in no way squeezed anywhere close to $5m out of a functioning adult. He was everything we thought Saxon is/was when he turned on that B-School hotshot switch imo.
Zion to me just represents the next generation of b school douche. He was a walking stereotype of someone that watched some bad movies about business/negotiations and imitated one of the characters.
I had no idea https://www.harpersbazaar.com/cultu...white-lotus-season-three-deleted-scene-piper/ I don't love his explanations, it seems to remove a lot of nuisance by defining them in absolutes
Just sucks when everyone is just acting like a tv character not a real person. Huge huge downgrade from season 2.
I thought mook being all over Gaitok for not being career driven enough was weird considering she worked at the same place. What did she even do there?
My favorite 3 characters this season: 1. Chelsea 2. Victoria Ratliff 3. Frank (Sam Rockwell) Least favorite: 1. Gaitok 2. Kate (Leslie Bibb) 3. Mook I thought Goggins was great, but ultimately his character suffered from the writing
I could see Duke dork showing up in a future season as a meditation coach or something. It’s clear they wanted him and sister to flip philosophies start to finish but it wasn’t executed well. They really need to start killing off non popular characters each season.
Lochy wasn't flipping philosphies, he's a chameleon. He morphs his actions/personality to fit his environment and please the people around him. He sees his sister as this introspective religious convert to budhism, so when he's around her, he acts the same way. Hence the offering to stay at the monestary, eatting the food with enthusiasm, etc. When he's with Saxon, he sees saxon as a degenerate playboy so he acted the same way to please his brother. Drinking, doing drugs, fucking a women in a relationship, etc. The interesting twist was that both siblings were frauds. Sister was really a spoiled rich girl at heart and Saxon is just a scared 20something year old trying to prove he isn't a nepo baby with nowhere near the sexual experience he claimed to have. Then you have the final conversation with his dad where he says he could live without money because that is clearly what his dad needed him to say at that moment.
Based on how the show usually goes where rich people seem to always win and get away with stuff, I was expecting him to turn on his phone and find out that nobody is pursuing charges. It would make everything that took place even more absurd. I mean I guess that outcome could still be in the cards.
Well season 1 was def rich people win and people at the hotel lose, but id argue season 2 was the opposite. that being said i toyed with that idea too and it would be kinda hilarious.
So who was first in here to predict it was his dad and when, I was 98% sure after e7. Rich dude with junkie mom and doesn’t work, mad I didn’t see it earlier
Should have had Isaacs murder his whole family and then find out that the lawyer had got him off all the charges when he gets his phone back.
