DEAD7 will always get a pass from me because of our CAC’s weird obsession with the coli. I wish he’d engage and prove me wrong about being a libertarian.
I’ve spent a decent amount of time in packing plants. Anyone who says that is unskilled labor never watched a guy on the gut table or fab line with a knife. Aside from one particular location which was known for a culture of dickheads all around, I fucking loved those guys. But I guess those bootstraps aren’t the right bootstraps since they didn’t have a degree.
Uhh, when I did I say people aren’t good enough? I said to simplify the immigration process. We also need to target high skilled immigrants. It’s not one or the other.
Once again my guy, you assume I only want high skilled immigrants. I merely said we should target them. It’s not 1 or the other.
i never said we should restrict our prison population to only minorities. i said we target minorities for our prison population, like recruiting
he is a right wing white dude, that pretty much means hell be able to keep doing this for the rest of his life
Mass shootings are bad, don’t get me wrong, but if they’re going to happen anyway we should target them towards individuals that live in low income and high crime neighborhoods that are causing problems in this country. I definitely did not say to kill minorities.
Numerous studies that say immigration is a net positive for the country. Only reason to hold this position is because you're a racist, just so everyone's clear on who this guy is.
Yeah you're beating around the bush because you're a coward. There's no reason to devote resources to defending the border and defining whether it's legal or illegal. These people aren't doing anything wrong entering the country to work or whatever it is they're seeking. You criminalize, and in turn stigmatize, these these people by being some "tough on immigration" asshole like you are
This guy voted for Trump in *2020* when it was clear who Trump was and what Trump was about (a wall, calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapist). Don't forget!
Give me a reason people shouldn't be able to pass through that isn't racist. You won't be able to do it.
Illegally? Because it’s illegal and they should be processed into the country. If we stop illegal immigration, we would hopefully stop farms and other low skilled workplaces from taking advantage of people. Everyone coming in should be registered.
He gives off strong “I voted for trump because he's a businessman. But I wish he would tone down the Twitter usage.” energy
Assault rifles should be banned and current owners should be required to register, attend an annual psych evaluation, and have a second person sign an affidavit assuming equal liability for the persons actions with the weapon. Strength to the families. It hurts me deeply to think about these things happening. The reality of it is soul crushing. You or a loved one or both go to the grocery store and never come back. some of y’all need a break from this board. It’s unhealthy.
lol, I don’t wear vests because I feel like they bunch up on my shoulder and it looks funny to me. I’ve focused on shoulders at the gym so hopefully that will change. I also only wear a backwards hat.
Yes. In a perfect world, everyone coming here would be registered and not having to live life in fear constantly. In a perfect world we’d have enforcement agencies with enough teeth to punish companies that take advantage of undocumented workers. However we live in a world where one side of the aisle will never cooperate to fix our broken immigration system because it needs its shrinking base to stay motivated to vote. It does this by playing upon white grievances. You view things from an extremely neoliberal lens. That’s pretty much the standard POV we all were taught growing up. The disconnect you have with most of the board is you provide your POV as common sense ideas that shouldn’t be controversial. And in a perfect world they wouldn’t be if everyone was on equal footing. The frustration with everyone is you’re not connecting the natural conclusion of these white washed neo liberal views. “We have laws, we should follow them”. That makes sense in a vacuum. In context of the real world, the laws and system are designed to be unfair, oppress certain groups, framed around certain ideas and ethos of white supremacy myths. Your focus seems to be more on the law breaking than the power systems that create the laws of our broken immigration. You said immigration is good. You want more of it. Scorn should be on the lawmakers that have created conditions and systems to where we have so many undocumented immigrants, who should just have green cards. They are already valuable participants in our country society. Advocate for them instead of talking as if they’re dirty criminals because of a broken immigration system. That intentionally stays broken
I appreciate the thoughtful response. I have no issues with the current people here legal or “illegal.” And we need a process to get them “legal” and in the system. But I do want the system simplified so that anyone trying to bypass it to get in illegally is removed from the US. I agree that we should pressure law makers to fix it, but I can’t think of a single one that has proposed a good idea IMO. Going back to my apply for a job analogy, it should be that straightforward to get in. At minimum you need certain documentation or information to be processed in. I can’t just walk up a workplace today and tell them I’m hired without giving information. I don’t know what that looks like in the real world application of processing immigrants.
Bring in like recruiting for a company. The process should be simple for the people walking up but need to target high skilled people, like the examples I posted about China earlier.
I didn’t do a good job with the original post but I won’t edit to make it look different now. I should have included this is a product of home and not school. Poster I replied to had mentioned what are they teaching in school which I thought was being tongue in cheek.
