If only Herbert threw left handed could we blame all the drops on our WR instead of the 4 1st round WR that Tua is throwing to.
Checkdown Tua?? But Flores also said of Tua: “Accuracy, decision making, all of those things have been good in practice. But again, practice is very different than a game. We’re comfortable and confident that he’ll be able to be competitive in those games when the time comes.” So far, that hasn’t been the case. Over his first three starts (not including Sunday), Tua averaged just 170 yards per game. He’d thrown for five touchdowns and had yet to toss an interception, but his average of 6.7 yards per attempt would have ranked 27th in the NFL if he qualified for Pro Football Reference’s season leaderboards. Tagovailoa came into Sunday as Pro Football Focus’s 33rd ranked quarterback, well below Ryan Fitzpatrick, who ranks tied for 15th.
I mean he's obviously not setting the league on fire but when you look at who he's throwing to and consider he's a rookie behind a young OL he's been pretty good for the most part.
the rams game was pretty weird in that miami's defense/special teams made so many plays that tua didn't have much to work with. he had a couple of drops and a couple of inaccurate balls. that game was an incomplete. i didn't watch the arizona game. i think it was his best, right? against the chargers, he looked decent but not great. again, the defense really won the game for miami. and he looked like dogshit today. he's clearly not as good (yet?) as burrow or herbert. he doesn't have the WRs as either of them (though his RBs are better than LAC's this year), admittedly, but his OL isn't worse than either of those teams. burrow had enough mobility to make plays and herbert has the big arm/size to make throws off balance (and could scramble a bit, too). idk if tua can do what either of those guys can do without great pass protection so miami will have to plan for that.
Tua has the worst WR/RB group for the three by far. Burrow has a worse OL. I mean right now our best WR is Parker and after that our next best is a 5'6 guy and third is an undrafted rookie who didn't play WR in college. It's a fucking mess there. I'm not saying Tua played well but he has a pretty shitty situation to work with at the offensive skill positions.
I'm not sure. I know it wasn't good last week against Miami. Herbert has been impressive for sure. All I'm saying is right now I think anyone can admit that a WR group of Parker/Grant/Perry is pretty awful. It's the worst unit on the team by far. Tua had a lousy game. It happens. Especially on a team that's rebuilding the offense to the extent Miami is. Burrow had a really bad game against Baltimore. Nobody is blowing that out of proportion.
These bumps during rookie seasons never backfire. I'm impressed they even got him ready to play this season, we'll have to see what his career looks like a couple years down the road.
Bama QBs don’t actually face any real adversity on the field until they get to the league no surprise Tua is struggling, still think he will be good though
Watched most of the game and it looked like Tua got benched for his own safety. OL was doodoo and Tua loves getting hit for some reason.
Not to take anything from Herbert, BUT Relative to the rest of the league he's not in Dan Marino's rookie season's league.
why cant we ever just start new threads? the bumping of old shit just makes this board seem stale. just a compliant I will write down and shove up my ass.
Veteran QB gave us the best shot the the last few drives over a rookie QB having a bad game. Oh no stop the presses. And in those two drives he managed to throw an INT and hit another defender in the chest because nobody is open.
what's shocking about that? the chargers' starting rb for the last few weeks is a guy who couldn't make either miami's or the jets' (!!) roster. Ekeler is better than anyone Miami (or Cincy) has but he's been hurt and on IR since ~week 2.
Saw that. Not saying he was hurt. But Tua was sacked 6 times before being benched. A couple of those were probably his fault for not getting rid of it. At that point you're protecting your investment. And Flores also said that Tua is still the starter.
Miami has been starting Myles gaskin and a guy named Salvon Ahmed who we hired away from Home Depot 3 weeks ago we have had and continue to have the worst RB room in the league, zero chance either starts for anyone else in the league
The Chargers are probably worse at RB at the moment. Like he pointed out they are starting a guy we didn't want. But you can get by with that easier than you can get by with our WR group. It's real real bad.
He can say whatever he wants, I refuse to believe anyone has a less talented RB room than us Pray for Harris or Etienne in 2021
Our RBs are bad enough that it's just splitting hairs. I think it's hard to envision Miami coming out of the 2021 draft without two WRs and a RB in the first three rounds. We have five picks in the first 3.
we have Parker and then just trash at all skill positions right now with Williams out need to go WR/RB heavy in the draft
And even with Parker... if he's your best target that's not good. He's a solid player and on team friendly deal so that's good but he isn't a #1. After him...big yikes.
