The dolphins org fucking sucks and has been an embarrassment for 2 decades. But in this one case they had every incentive to do the thing that everyone thinks all teams always do..which is tell a hurt player to shut the fuck up and take your injections…and for once go through the nonsense protocol with every incentive not to do so. That’s a good thing for once. but fuck Stephen Ross to the sun and back. Doesn’t change at least they seem to have gotten this one thing right.
Idk maybe we watched 2 different games but after seeing his head slam into the ground after just having a severe concussion a few weeks ago makes me think it’s a concussion but idk
"The Dolphins should actually be commended for how they've handled Tua," might be the spiciest take I've seen on TMB in 2022 holy crap. Ha.
I’m a big boi and I hate to dog pile this late, but holy shit at aggressively defending how well the Dolphins handled this situation. As an expert in detecting brain injuries of posters online (I deal with blind dog and devine daily), Sub-Zero please get checked out by a Neuro asap
I'm interested in hearing what Tua has to say about his being prone to concussion and whether or not he thinks he should sit out. If he wants to play knowing the risks, have at it.
I mean I feel for Tua and it's terrible if he had another concussion. But I dont really understand the takes that McDaniel should have somehow known Tua had a concussion when nobody was even talking about it until Tua reported symptoms a day later.
I think people were pointing out where his head slammed into the turf before the news came out about him being in the protocol
WTF? They should be commended for treating their employee who was concussed on the job for his concussion as they are required to do so?
Last thing I’m saying on this because whatever. But my point is that how are the football men supposed to have known he was at all concussed to treat him. Do they treat him every time he gets tackled for a concussion? The hit in question he popped right back up from and no one (not the football men nor the brain injury spotting men) noticed a thing. Nor did the broadcast. Nor did all the twitter doctors. Playing a bad second half isn’t a concussion symptom. So at the first sign anything was up (day after when he self reported symptoms) they went into protocol. Good on them for doing that right and not hiding it. That’s it. This has nothing to do with historical crap this org has done. this also goes back to who you are relying on to make medical decisions and how football men are just not equipped to do so.
The league also found no violations or issues with completely missing the DeVante Parker concussion. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/23/sport/devante-parker-nfl-review-head-injury-no-violations/index.html Having an incompetent policy doesn’t absolve responsibility, in my opinion, when we’re dealing with consequences on this level. I agree that the Dolphins aren’t the only guilty party here.
Oh make no mistake I am not endorsing the protocol. So much of this nfl stuff is optics only. More just acknowledging it’s there and really the only thing these football men have as a course of action. and to the point of optics. My conspiracy theory is Tua was medically cleared by whoever not long after they Cincy game (remember he was released from the hospital the same night he was knocked out) but the league/dolphins had him sit longer for optics. I’m not saying he should have come back sooner but rather just it’s all optics.
he wasn’t able to quote macgruber as well as he usually does so mike immediately knew something was wrong
They need to figure out how to get one of those motorcycle racing inflatable safety vests to work for Tua’s helmet.
Should be a very short investigation, if what the Dolphins fans on the board are telling me is correct
If a Dolphins player had to enter concussion protocol every time they started to play like shit. We wouldn’t have enough players to field a team.
Saying the Dolphins should be commended for doing the obvious when they found out was much, but the general point that it's kinda impossible to expect every player who's head touches the ground and shows no symptoms of a concussion aside from throwing dumbass INTs to be pulled is valid. If that's anyone's takeaway then tackle football as a whole just isn't viable. And maybe that's a lot of people's opinion anyway. It's not an out there take.
Tua has a newborn kid and I'm sure that has to be weighing on him a lot right now. Feel real bad for the guy.
The important thing is he's surrounded by people that definitely without a doubt have his best interests at heart
