Somehow stumbled across this today. Little did I know that DaveGrohl won the dad thread 2 years ago...
I got the record from record store day. I'm not ashamed. It's fun. Wednesday night my wife and I, who saw the Foos in 1995, will be taking our (vaccinated) 15 & 16 year old sons to their first major concert when the Foo Fighters/Dee Gees open the new Icon Music Center in Cincinnati. Can't. Fucking. Wait.
Lifelong fan, never seen them in person. 12 days from my first show outside Kansas City with one of my favorite people in the world. Pretty hyped.
Grohl is awesome bc he has fun and @ this point can do whatever the fuck he wants. How could not respect that a little?
Saw them @ amphitheatre in KC with RHCP on Californication tour in 1999. One of my favorite shows of all time.
I don’t listen to them as much as I used to but I’ve seen them 2-3 times and it’s always a good show.
Saw this thread bumped. Perused first page. Still hate you for this. But then got reintro’d to: And got flabbergasted all over again.
A few days late, but Wednesday in Cincinnati was great. We got in line a couple hours early and got close to the stage. My boys are hooked. They had a blast. Radkey, the band from Dave's What Drives Us documentary is really good live, by the way.
I'm not against the Foo Fighters or anything, but every time "Waiting on a War" comes on I quickly proceed to change it. There's gotta be more to this than that.....
Was at that show last night. They did the BeeGees song and he talked about one of the ladies not being able to keep from kinda dancing. Dude gives 200% at every show. Loved it. Side note: while waiting to park, we watched a woman get out of a car on the other side of the highway that that video was shot from, hike into the grassy area where westboro is, and shit on a tree…then just hike back to her car.
Spencer Elden, the baby on the cover of Nevermind, has sued Nirvana for civil damages related to child pornography and exploitation. Not everyone universally loves Grohl now. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1277578
They'll settle out of court for drastically less than he's asking for but drastically more than he deserves.
He is 30 years old, so he has a statute of limitations issue that required him to file suit after he turned 18 to seek damages for use of his image or likeness. His dad also signed off on it in the early 90’s so he probably is bound by that. He is suing under the child porn claims because there is no statute of limitation and parental consent is not a defense. Next up, Pham Thi Kim Phuc, the Vietnamese girl from the 1973 Pulitzer Prize photo of a napalm bombing in the Vietnam War.
