It helped me get interested in other leagues, just for the simple fact I needed to have a clue who I was picking for or against. Should we hold a vote?
I participated last year up until my divorce/separation was in full force & I missed a few weeks. I'm definitely interested in doing it again.
I think a couple of us are doing the "I know the score" on the Premier League site. We could set up a group if folks are interested.
thats only EPL, the pickem we ran here included all leagues/competitions in the world although it was mostly European matches.
well i would need major help keeping the scores this time. I dont mind picking the 10 or 15 games every week as I usually look ahead to the weekend to see the matchups anyway.
Or just keep it simple. I imagine it got really complicated for those tracking/keeping scores last year.
it seemed like a lot of work for you to do it manually but i mean if we get folks willing to set it up each week then id play
yea it was a lot of work. I had a nice spreadsheet to keep track but just tallying up the scores was annoying. I thought chan had said that he had some setup to do it now...
not sure if thats available, but i may be wrong even with the mainboard poll last year it still needed folks to tally up the numbers manually
I'd definitely be up for it if someone was willing to do the work. I understand if nobody feels like doing all that though, that had to have been a pain in the ass.
What about a simple pick'em (Win,Lose,Draw) and bonus point match each week? What Leagues would we use? How many matches per week?
I must have came over after that happened. Let me mess around in excel and see if I can get something somewhat automated that would take about 10 minutes a week to update.
Yea I would pick 10 games (or 15 during europe weeks) and then would just tally them up manually. I am willing to pick the 10 games again and help but doing all the work manually is a bitch. If you are able to set it up I would love to pick the games but since u would be doing all the excel work it can be a cooperative effort. I try to look at all the major leagues (EPL, Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, etc) mix in some major rivalries from the smaller leagues like Greece, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, MLS and include the Europa and Champions League.
Alright that would work. I am downloading Office 2010 right now. I might be able to make this completely automated if we can get people to submit their picks a certain way.
Also we divided into two seasons last time to keep it more interesting and did international matches as well.
Alright I think I have it pretty automated. Should only take time to input the picks and the results. Should be 15 minutes a week tops to process.
how about we do a test week this week (results wont count but we ask people to send the picks) and then go full out if everything runs smooth once spain and italy begin their leagues?
sounds good. I was in last year for a while then missed my picks one week and got all out of whack. I'll be more diligent this year.
i'll run it if their is coding involved. also can do an automatic spreadsheet like NK suggested if the build doesn't meet our needs, though I'm still in the dark ages using Excel 07.
just need 1 person to input the list of games to pick, turn it on, then submit the winners and it will calculate everything from there
I think I missed Pick Em more than anything else on the board when I was on my hiatus. I'll definitely play again.
Anyone oppose that I take the initiative and run the pick-em? I am willing to do the work and I'm ready to go for this weekend's games.
Go for it. If you need help picking games you can always PM me. Soccernet has a pretty good schedule of daily games from all leagues and that is what I would use.
go right on ahead man. good luck getting ahold of chan, i PMed him about this but never heard back. and if you're going the other route just make sure you get those scores up weekly. the scoring system last time got so complex that it became a massive chore for Chilean and when it took him a while to compile the results and people couldn't get their instant satisfaction from having made a correct pick, people stopped submitting. anyways looking forward to it!
