second screenshot on the insta was that list is why i posted, just a bonkers collection can't imagine you're getting big pours even at $5k
We had a bottle of Mercury Head 2009. It was fantastic with prime rib. It took a while to open up, but it was still great.
We did 2014 Frog’s Leap Estate Cab last night with Prime Rib. Tonight I’m doing 2013 Continuum Estate Cab with Beef Bourguignon.
This Continuum is the most dense, concentrated wine I think I’ve ever had. It’s the first 2013 I’ve opened from them. Usually their wines are more elegant. It isn’t a bad thing but this feels more like trying to be a cult wine. It reminds me of Dalle Valle Maya but I think Maya is a better version. Maybe I’ll change my mind when the food is ready.
Yeah wanted them a bit chiller than where they were at before opening (decanted the Bordeaux). Both wines really delicious, especially the 98 Bordeaux which was a random gift from family friends.
cross post from the houston thread... about a year ago it was announced that a new wine bar was opening within a couple hundred steps of my townhome. i got very excited. it is probably the worst wine bar imaginable for someone who even has a cursory knowledge of grapes “The wine list will be a variety of Old and New World, covering California, Oregon, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and South America,” Clark added. I’m obsessed with the Spanish sparkling wines I chose and also very into French reds. I want everyone to taste them.” https://houston.culturemap.com/news...on-clark-army-sadeghi-star-engraving/#slide=1
That's like some millennial got an inheritance, got high, and was like let's do a wine bar... We'll put a bunch of french shit up on the walls, play Hipster Cocktail Party, and sell a shitload of rose and champagne to the yuppies
This is a great idea. Gallant Knight can change the format to focus exclusively on the unique and diverse wines of to kalon vineyard. ;)
Yeah this is so bad, just open a cocktail bar. Highlights include an espresso martini that’s garnished with a torched marshmallow and tableside punch bowl service with oversized blocks of ice and edible flowers.
Went last night to their soft opening. There is a 0% chance this place makes it. Cocktails are $16 and their wine selection is pitiful. And it’s like 1200 sqft
Do they even have a wine club or any form of membership? it reminds me of mid 20s people thinking they can flip a house because they like to decorate.
What was the wine auction website that a few people were messing around on earlier last year Gallant Knight? I am running out of room and canceled a wine club so I am looking to buy nicer and less frequently.
So I got on the Sine Qua Non list last week. In the last 12 or so months I've hit on Cayuse and SQN which I think are among the longest waits out there. I think both took me about 8-10 years.
