Mariota completed 30 percent of his passes (6-of-20), the lowest completion percentage in a win (minimum 20 attempts) since JaMarcus Russell completed 29.2 percent (7-of-24) against the Chiefs in 2009. Does this mean mariota is a skinnier Jamarcus? Jameis failed to account for a TD on Sunday. First time that's happened in his college/pro career. Both of their teams were able to pull out wins in spite of the lackluster performances.
Winston now #9 in DVOA on Football Outsiders while MM is #10. The order was reversed last week so advanced metrics have them basically even and both top 10 in the league. * Total QBR has them 9 and 11 respectively as well
Denver also has the best passing Defense in the league by a good margin. Von Miller up the ass all day
Mariota was just carted off. Tackled by the ankles but couldn't tell much. Hope it's not as serious as they made it look.
It's likely a broken ankle/lower leg and/or some torn ligaments or something. He was sacked by a DL and his right ankle was rolled and landed on. It was put in an air cast and carted off.
Ankle. They put an air cast on it right away. He knew right away that he was hurt. Didn't try to get up or anything.
It was kind of weird watching it. Normally players react in some way but he didn't at all. He landed face down, stayed that way for a second, then rolled over and sat up and just waited for them to come get him. They called for the cart as soon as they got to him. It seemed like he knew right away it was broken and told them just that and they called for the cart. He was just stoic through the whole thing.
Probably went straight into shock. I've broken bones before and it almost doesn't hurt. You know something is wrong obviously but you don't necessarily go writhing around in agony.
it was this one (so far) i guess all things considered, that's pretty good. suggests there's not ligament damage + the little bones in the ankles and feet can be tough to heal. a leg usually heals easily.
I would say they are pretty even and have done better than most at their age. Winston is the better passer and can handle more thrown at him but Mariota takes care of the ball better and is more dynamic. I doubt either team would trade one for the other.
Winston is worse at taking care of the ball than Mariota? Eww. Mariota's ball protection cost the Titans about 3 games and the playoffs.
He throws it more but he also takes a lot of chances and has thrown 33 INTs his first two years. He tries to make something out of nothing too many times. As I said thought both guys have played a lot better than 98% of other QBs in the first two years considering they both took over 2-14 teams and now have them one game out of the playoffs. Shit Jameis just turned 23. He's younger than Dak is now.
If Jameis helped his rushing offense like Mariota did then Tampa would have the 13th ranked rushing offense.
Though actually when it comes to pass protection TB's and Tennessee's are almost identical, statistically.
Mariota turned 23 a couple of months ago. He's younger than Dak, too. And they're both younger than Wentz.
winston also plays in a real division where as memeiota plays in a meme division that is the AFC east away from being the biggest joke in football
Hard to help your rushing offense when the starting RB is in rehab for coke. There's something about professional athletes in Tampa and their affinity for the Peruvian.
