The the best of times, the worst of times, the age of wisdom, the age of foolishness, the epoch of belief, the epoch of incredulity, the season of Light, the season of Darkness, the spring of hope, the winter of despair
In all seriousness, i'm surprised this thread wasn't bumped when this was written: http://twoqbs.com/qb-profiles/marcus-mariota-jameis-winston-duel-for-the-ages/
We're pretty full at WR tbh. Evans, Jackson, Godwin, Humphries, Huff. He'd probably beat out Huff, but anyone outside of our top 4 guys is going to have to pull double duty on special teams.
Passer rating on crossing routes is the single best predictor of NFL success, everyone knows that. Let's take a look at the facts: /thread
The Suh one was solved obviously and last year people started somewhat conceding to Julio after he had 300 yard games and shit. Marcus vs Jameis has to take on the mantle now
Tennessee needs better CBs and better OLBs. Sucks we whiffed on Dodd and Adoree trying to address those. Really though the Titans just need better coaching.
Tampa needs a runningback, left offensive tackle, left offensive guard, right offensive guard, right offensive tackle, defensive end, defensive tackle, a couple corners, a safety or two, a head coach, some assistants, and a new GM. Just a few minor pieces away, imo.
CBs are serviceable but probably need another, just don't have enough. Literally anyone but Cyprien would be an improvement. Need a new nose tackle and someone on offense that's explosive
I liked Adoree getting that carry on O yesterday. Would love more of that. Corey Davis flashed yesterday and I think Taywan is going to be good too. Agree on nose tackle. So dumb we took Austin Johnson last year.
Yeah they need someone like Adoree whether it's him or not. I like Davis but they're still going to need a speedy playmaker even if he pans out
a lot can change over the course of their careers, but who would have thought Goff and Wentz would jump both of these guys the way they have?
I think (in hindsight) Goff always had a ton of potential- he just has a head coach that actually knows how to run an offense instead of Jeff Fisher.
I just remember around draft time Goff and Wentz seemed like guys who were top picks as the product of a bad QB class, whereas Winston and Mariota were regarded as studs that everyone was trying to get their hands on somehow.
Marcus is being neutered by this coaching staff. It is so frustrating to watch. I think with a competent HC you would see a jump like Goff took.
That is part of it, but more than that I think its the coaches insisting on running the ball way too much and having wayyyyy too many PA concepts with only two guys going deep. Marcus' best attribute is his ability to quickly read a defense and the get the ball out. We should be in shotgun 85 percent of the time with 3-4 wide running short and intermediate stuff. The receiver group this year is better than it was last year and our offense looks worse.
In hindsight it looks like one of the best QB classes in awhile. Wentz, Goff, Dak all playing at a high level. Brissett has filled in admirably. Kessler has looked competent enough to at least be a backup for a long-time. Lynch still may turn into something.
Still early in all their careers. Jameis is still younger than all of them. Impressed a lot by Wentz though. Really good player.
He was playing well the first few games, INTs were down, completion percentage was higher. He looked better this year to start the year over the previous two years even though as young QBs go he wasnt bad at all.
Agree but I think his shoulder injury has played a part. His deep ball has struggled all year but he has looked worse since the injury.
Yeah it sucks pretty bad. Having an amazing mobile, quick read QB stand in the pocket and throw PA deep routes (or screens to our slowest receiver) kills me a little every Sunday. They’re winning, but it seems to be in spite of the coaching.
