Went with a Fully Jarvis when they had a recent sale. Don’t have anything else in the office yet so the walls are bare. Have a few final pieces of cord management like hiding the power cord, and maybe get a couple sleeves for cords coming from the desk. Under the desk I mounted surge protectors and some j-channels to run all the desk and system cords. Pretty happy with this.
I put two of these running on either side of the middle rail with some space in between horizontally. Have the computer cables running in the back set closer to the wall, and all the power cables running in the front set. I was able to mount a long surge protector within the rail itself that’s enough for it all. https://a.co/d/88JX7zr I used command strips to hold up any adapter/transformer boxes on the power cords. Should hold but might have to revisit that. Thinking about trying something like this that I can cut, to group some of the on desk cords together. https://a.co/d/74ppcGX Not sure on the power cord yet. Have found various cable spines like this. Could do a white cable channel on the wall to run the power to that point. https://a.co/d/4rUNos1 Also saw this magnetic vertical channel, but not sold on that. https://a.co/d/4sV5HbQ
I saw the discussion in the Prime day thread on office chairs and it got my mind wandering. Has anyone used a chair like these for more than a few weeks? I feel like they’re a gimmick that gets old after a bit but I’m wanting to give myself a little variety.
We had them in the office, then they got us standing desks so I stopped using it. Some people still use them with their desks down. They really do help w posture. But when youre tired, it's not fun to sit in. Which I guess is the point.
New wfh trick if you use Teams and need to look busy. Go to Outlook, Calendar, and there should be a Meet Now button that will put you in a call with no one, Teams Status shows "in a call".
teams still has some issues, but it's much better than it used to be, if you haven't used it in a while.
Definitely not me, but I’ve seen people open teams on their iPad and change their status to busy and set the screen to never turn off. I would never. But I do think either of those things is just a visual thing. Really nosy companies can know exactly what you’re doing, when you typically reply to emails, how many a day, etc. When you generally start and stop your days. How many people you have collaborated with. How many meetings you have and when. Whether emails or teams chat/discussion were associated those meetings. Those Microsoft Viva Insights emails are creepy as hell.
Thing with “busy” is most people know its a manual status and will hover your name to see exactly what your red status is. And your second point, totally. IT can see the details of every participant of every Teams call if they want. Your IP, device type, shit even your speakers and microphone being used.
Sat weird on the couch last night, reclining with ottoman where all my weight was pressed to my tailbone. Now it's sore to sit on my ass. But my job is sitting on my ass.
Dealing with a bruised tailbone the last week or so ..had to order a special seat cushion.. Cushion Lab...can find on their website or Amazon
Curious how people handle video/client calls at home. What's the easiest way to class up some athleisure attire. Thinking of getting a vest or a puffy vest, but christ I feel like they are so finance/corporate bro level of cringe...but I just want something vs putting on the same work polo.
Thin zip up jacket or q-zip imo. I run cold anyways so my daily outfit is a t shirt and that. I still wear the same north face zip up I got from the company two jobs ago.
I just employ a halfers strategy - the top half is what I would wear in the office. The bottom is gym shorts.
I've been wearing thermals during the winter or a pullover. I only wear shorts unless I plan to be outside and then it's joggers or jeans. Also random take here but the morning shower routine for WFH is a must. When we had the kids it was a struggle to shower before work every morning. Now that they're somewhat older I have a lot more time in the mornings. That and I got a new ergo chair. Changed everything last year.
1/4 zip with either a tshirt or polo underneath depending how much I need to look dressed up based on customer.
I don't want to wear a polo shirt and constantly have 3-4 in my office that I rotate through. I'd rather put on something over my blank tee that looks business enough Quarter zip might do it. I have a few that i do wear in the winter, but they are kinda distinct so I can't wear them all the time when I get on with clients.
Faherty movement button downs are great. Length is normal unlike a dress shirt and they are very comfortable
I've been trying with the idea for a while. Seems no good compromise. It just the ease of being able to toss on a jacket vs having to take off/put on polo. Plus they get wrinkled and repetitive. It's not a huge inconvenience, I just would like to be the least amount of inconvenienced
Everyone you video chat with definitely won’t be talking behind your back about your new cringey vest look. I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you.
Why would you need to take off/put on a polo? I don’t like the look, but just buy a better polo and they can be as comfortable as a t shirt or whatever your preference is
I already have this. I don't want to wake up and walk them lift in a collared shirt. Hence needing to take one off/put one on
Teams and Zoom can automate my background, give me an AI character, fix my eyes to the camera....why can't I get an AI shirt?
I shower at night, wear deodorant, and most of my workouts for the last 5 months have occured between 15 and 55 degrees I'm. It a very sweaty stinky person.
