friend on facebook posted about this being bullshit. Here is a comment someone said. "Doha is one of the best places in the world though.I have a friend there right now and he loves it. They have so much money and it will probably be bad ass. USA shoulda got it but hey."
haha thanks for the tip. All I need is like $20,000 made into liquid and inject it into me, and I'm cured.
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/duncanwhite/100014090/qatars-world-cup-victory-shows-full-extent-of-fifas-greed/ Brilliant piece.
Seeing Abromovich all giddy was funny as shit This liberal chick posted on my facebook wall "whats so bad about a small, hot, conservative country hosting the world cup?
I understand he's a muslim and may have campaigned for Qatar, but it has nothing to do with what I was talking about. I was talking about the part bolded below. His parents moved from Algeria to Paris in 1968. They're not from the Middle East. That's all I'm sayin.
Arsenal fans losing the plot by defending known homosexual Henry. Blake comes through as usual. still mad.
Mad Englishman on SKy said that Brazil has not even begun the construction on the stadiums or infrastructure (airports) promised for 2014 and it looks as they will not be ready so they may have to move the cup and that England should be a top choice. Dont see that happening but just passing along info.
Tons of those rumors were floating this time last cycle re South Africa and it being moved to US America, but they got their shit together enough.
I was grouping them altogether, North Africa and the Middle East, all sand people with similar cultures.
I watched an hour long show called Build it Bigger where they talked about how Rio de Janeiro has frequent widespread blackouts. So Brazil is building one of the largest hydroelectric projects in the world, consisting of two hydroelectric dams and diverting like 15 miles of a river. Obviously, since I watched a tv show on it, they've started working on it, but it sounds like they may not be on schedule with everything else. Keep in mind, they're supposed to host the Olympics there too, so lots of pressure to get that all done.
Renovations on The Maracana have begun, which will also be the Olympic Stadium in 2016. Most of the stadiums in Brazil are existing stadiums that'll be renovated.
They better pack it tight with 200,000 for the Final. I can't imagine what it used to be like when they'd pack 100,000+ into those stadiums routinely. Italy and Brazil played a fucking friendly in front of 150,000 people at the San Siro for Christ's sake. Then those fag Juve fans had to go and ruin everything by getting destroyed by the liverpool fans.
Brazil has started work on several stadiums. Here are a few Rio (Maracana remodel) Sao Pauolo (it's a remodel) Belo Horizante (remodel) Salvador (this is a complete rebuild, they imploded the original 2 months ago) Porto Alegre
Brazil's stadiums look like they were going to collapse within the next 5 years if they weren't going to be renovated.
Thought the same thing. They all look like they were built in the 60's or 70's and have barely been maintained. I still think the stadiums will suck ass regardless of it.
There are a couple of stadiums that are new that havent started but they are more worried about the transportation infrastructure promised. I mean Manaus is in the middle of fucking Amazon and I thought that they were gonna build or seriously upgrade a bunch of airports all over Brazil.
I have no problem with that. Yeah...he's pretty bad sometimes, but I think he does a decent job with that show. That being said, I'm obviously a fan of the show. It's a decent, put this on right before I pass out show. If I don't fall asleep, I might see something cool or learn something. If I do fall asleep, I could kinda care less if I don't see the rest of it. The one where he was like 13,000 feet underground in a South African gold mine was pretty crazy.
I don't have time to find all the renders of what they're doing, but I've kept this one, because it is my favorite so far. I'll post some more later.
I'm sorry is that under water? Aren't these the same dickholes that are building The Wall (half underground stadium)?
Good to see the Sobotka's people working with Sergei's people. "We used to make shit in this country, build shit. Now we just put our hand in the next guy's pocket." -Frank Sobotka "Did he have hands? Did he have a face? Yes?... then it wasn't us *laughs*... idiot." -Sergei Malatov Sorry, if you don't get the reference, but I'm rewatching the Wire and just finished season 2 last night, so the Polish/Ukrainian thing clicked in my brain.
Also I do laugh at the fact that one of the so called main detractors for the US's bid was the fact that it is so spread out and the logistics for travel. I find this such bullshit as the fact that we have the greatest network of airports, highways, we are starting to build high speed rails, etc. Also we had Boston, NYC, Philly, DC, and Baltimore all within hours of each other. Brazil for that matter is right behind the US in landmass and has shit for transportation logistics. Such a BS excuse if that is the only negative we had (well besides not bribing people) Also here is proposed map for Qatar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_Cup
"Lack of government support" The same reason we've pulled our Olympic bids for the 2018 and 2020 olympics.
So it's the governments fault for not spending billions of dollars on a tournament? LOL that's a retarded reason. We have the infrastructure already in place and it is guaranteed that they would make money and set all kinds of records.
Government support =/= what can you do for this tournament? It boils down to us not being willing to throw that kind of money at FIFA. Couple that with the fact that we aren't an untapped market like the middle east. They've been looking for an excuse to put it there and Qatar's bribe was more than enough to push it in their favor.
