Never played this before. Any reason I should play this over something like FFXIV?

 

FF14 is the best sub based mmo on the market. Most people who play wow these days have been playing for years.

realistically, naganole's guild is huge and imo the best part about it is that they just let you do your own thing

like, windwalker monk isn't the best melee dps class, but that's what i like to play, and it's no problem

 

well, if you haven't played before, 1-100 might take like 40 hours? it's hard to say. if you pre-order Legion, you get a max level character, so there's that option.

 

the people in this thread play alliance for the most part

i can't remember if FightingCock's guild is alliance

the good news is that it doesn't really matter which server you join, if we're the same faction. naganole, myself, and sometimes friedskillet (and zapbrannigan like a million years ago) all have alliance characters on the earthen ring server. it's rp-pve, which means you can't just fight people out in the world. personally, i prefer pvp servers, but i like the guild i'm in, so it's all good.

 

IV fair warning: you might encounter a lot of assholes as you level up, if you're using the dungeon finder or battlegrounds instead of questing. don't be discouraged by it.

 

Me and my buddies have only played Horde. Currently on Area 52, which is Horde dominant and PVE. I like PVP servers if I am leveled and on top of my game. Sad panda if I am late to the xpac. I haven't played since January as I sold my PC. Bought the xpac preorder so I will see if I get the urge

 

you dont have to pick earthen ring necessarily, but that's where the more active people in this thread play. it's a low pop server, and even with cross-realm zones, you might be like one of ten people in a zone at any given time.

luckily the story is good for the most part, if you're into that. and if you're not, the quests are usually pretty straightforward and well designed. the only part of the leveling game that i dread is 60-70, because that part of the game is almost ten years old, and hasn't been retouched.

 

if you tell people you're new to the game, they can be cool. some people are just dicks and there isn't much you can do about that.

 

yes, you can group with anyone of the same faction across servers

your auction house and capital city are limited to your server, i think, but otherwise pretty much everything can be cross-realm

 

i dont know how accurate this data is, but it should give you a decent idea of the makeup of any given realm https://realmpop.com/us.html

it's only worth it to avoid servers like kil'jaeden, which i once played on, where it's basically open pvp and the faction balance is like 90:10. leveling a character on that realm was hell as i got closer to the level cap.

pretty sure death knights can use 2h swords also, but i dont know if you'd have access to them yet

 

Fury warrior means you can duel wield 2 handers, but arms or prot is a good level spec. Fury is the tits once you get high end gear (and my personal love of my life)

 

I would join you guys, but blizzard charges too much for faction transfers. Have 5 100 characters but all horde. I do have a 78 ally warlock and 81 ally DK though.

 

I always went bs/mining on my plate mail guys

 

I would go mining and either herbing or skinning to get max XP bonus. Swap to finisher professions next xpac. No finisher Prof will profit you so late into the current content but you can still sell herbs ore etc

 

I envy you IV, I wish I could do a fresh playthrough without knowing the world/story.

 

dungeons lost their fun for me when they added dungeon finder and cross realm grouping

i always thought it was fun having like 50 people standing around outside the summoning stone of dungeons LFG

 

So finding groups lost its fun

I went skiing out in park city over New years. I felt pain and soreness in my feet, legs, quads and knees I didn't know was possible. I miss being an 8 year where falling was not an issue.
