Help me understand why some had to wrestle tonight and why others wrestle tomorrow. Pretty much, why are Coon/Imar/etc. having to wrestle the champs of this while McKenna doesn't have to wrestle this weekend
WTT Challenger Tourney WTT BO3 Finals Final X (BO3) It's a little confusing. US Open champs clinched either A) a spot in the Final X or B) if there was a returning world medalist, a spot in the WTT Finals. So the classes with returning world medalists (Gilman 57, Green 70, Burroughs 74, Snyder 97, Gwiz 125) didn't wrestle BO3 WTT finals tonight because the winner of that match moves onto Final X. So because McKenna won the US Open and there was no returning medalist at 65kg, he clinched a spot in Final X. Stieber and Eierman wrestle tomorrow and winner gets McKenna at Final X. On the other hand, 57kg did have a returning medalist in Gilman. Ramos won the Open so he got a free ride to the WTT BO3 finals. Fix-Sanders was the Challenger Tourney finals. Because Fix won, he moves onto the WTT BO3 finals against Ramos. Winner of that goes to Final X against Gilman. Not sure if I explained that well or not.
Yeah, I get it now. The champs from a couple weeks ago get final x, unless there's a medalist already in the weight class. Definitely confusing. When is final x?
They are splitting them into three events at Nebraska, PSU, and Lehigh on June 9, 16, and 23 respectively. Combining mens and womens FS.
3 separate events is just about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. How is depriving fans the opportunity to see any combination of Snyder, Burroughs, Dake, or Taylor good for growing the sport?
Yeah but this way a greater amount of people get to see some of the best wrestlers in the country. And also they paired the hometown guys with their respective regionals, so Nebraska fans will be able to see Burroughs and Green wrestle for a place on the world team, as will PSU fans with David Taylor.
Daton Fix is so friggin good for someone who hasn't wrestled a college match yet. It's actually insane. Takes match one against one of the headiest wrestlers in the country in Anthony Ramos.
Eierman looks like he's a full weight class bigger than Logan. Eierman had a ridiculous 4 in the first, up 4-2 at the break.
Chamberlain dec Molinaro 4-1 Was 2-1 late on three shot clock points, Molinaro gave up 2 in desperation time. IMar-Kulchytskyy up next, I'm going with Nazar in the upset.
DELETE IMar looks outstanding in teching Nazar 13-2. If IMar wins those two Vincenzo matches we'd be potentially looking at one of the most anticipated WTT matches in a while in Burroughs-Imar.
hooooooooly shit. Zahid Valencia dec Alex Dieringer 7-0 Dieringer didn't get in on Zahid's legs once.
beat Ramos 10-3 and faces Gilman in a few weeks, went up 7-0 at end of the first with a 4 pointer off an inside trip then a gut
Brandon Courtney is currently the JR world team rep at 57kg, but with an asterisk: If Daton Fix loses at Final X against Thomas Gilman, he can request a special wrestle-off with Courtney for the JR world team spot because he finished top 3 at the US Open. Because Daton would be heavily favored in that match as the returning gold medalist at the weight, Courtney likely will be rooting his ass off for Daton.
oops. Logan beats Eierman two matches to none, moves onto Final X to face training partner Joey McKenna. I'll let Logan know you have extra tickets.
It's too late! Sold them for a profit because he never contacted me. Logie and/or Joey should send Zain a nice thank you note and maybe a gift basket.
Gorilla Hulk rebounds to win the second match 7-1 and send the BO3 to a 3rd match. Big victory for SERTC and the Virginia Tech program in general.
IMar looked outstanding against a really tough competitor in Kulchytsky, but he has to wrestle another tough competitor in his hometown to make a world team. Good luck.
wow. Dieringer didn't come close to scoring on Zahid in either match. Zahid wins #2 5-1, faces Dake at Final X.
Just like against Hall, Zahid really looks huge at 79kg against Dieringer. His movement with that size and the pace he keeps is awesome. Now, Dake is another story, not going to be any kind of physical advantage against that monster
NICK REENAN onto Final X??? Crazy. Daton Fix, Joey McKenna, Zahid Valencia, and Nick Reenan all competing for a world team spot as college kids.
Zillmer-Winn II match of the day. Both guys bloodied, Zillmer comes back to win after a Winn four and lost challenge.
Then again you also claimed a guy as the greatest college wrestler ever and he never wrestled college. Lots of hypotheticals in that life you live.
Here’s how hyping up a weight class can go.. We pumped up Nato - 1 title, 4 AA’s not bad. But still a guy that got thrown into the bleachers vs a guy that wrestled 3 matches for Boise State. Then we over hyped Suriano- transfers to no talent in the new room and he looks stale in the final. Now this past season “Lee is unbeatable” Well I guess we’ll just have to see how the weight classes pan out this coming season. Remember... Cenzo can’t win a big match but he’s won two. Isn’t it pretty interesting that it’s pretty much Cenzo’s title now to lose? How about Cenzo as a 4x’er nobody expected that but guess what he’s pinned Kemmerer and Imar. Wow just a tiny kid from PCC.
here bro check it out the season 3 trailer of attack on titan . supposed to start july 22. www.youtube.com peace.
Dakota Geer to OKST. The lineup was cluttered before, what the hell. Travis Wittlake? He's going to be a freshman, what are you doing.
Sean Russell to Minnesota as well. Gophers are going to be a tough out in duals, they are strong at the lower weights and Gable will be favored in every match he wrestles. Russell Lizak McKee Thorn Bleise Allar (65-97 weakish) Krone Webster B Steveson G Steveson
You can tell Carl is desperate since he held out all of our wrestlers from freestyle season with the hopes of having them fresh and rested in the fall. It's our only hope to compete. Grats bucs!
