And standard setting academic achievement!
Pumped for this, Yianni-Punia is what I'm looking forward to the most

79kg: Jordan Burroughs (Nebraska WTC) vs Ben Askren (UFC/AWA)
Colon lost to Suriano because he checked the clock and got taken down.
Suriano beats Colon
Awful awful match till the last scramble that Suriano got the only takedown off of
Taylor is gonna kill Foster
this is stupid. end the match.
He tore something, fuck.
Taylor's knee went wrong way, hopefully not an ACL
Dont believe it's an ACL fortunately. I'm guessing PCL.
Really shouldn't be it seems like we overlook how good J'Den is though Brucki is joke competition for him
I'm not a longtime fan but Yianni is bringing something to the sport I've never seen
Yianni beats world #1 Bajrang 10-8 in an outstanding match.
Only question here is how bad JB makes Askren look.
That was just amazing, Punia giving up at the end was some bullshit though
Been quite some time since i've seen askren in a singlet. Weird.
and in typical fashion, flo has frozen
JB about to tech Askren. 9-0 in first.
A whole lot of hype for a whole lot of nothing.
It was fun. Did anyone actually think it would go different?
Jack Mueller said after his match that he walks around at 147. Will be staying at 57kg going forward.
Gotta be one of the biggest 25s
Yazdani seems like a class act. Unlike the crazy Iranians all over DTs social media
That's pretty aggressive. When does it get to the point where it's unsafe.
Does any other school put up banners for individual champions?
Believe OSU does
Bye bye Robbie???
Robbie is going to be a 133 imo, Bartlett I see at 141 for now.
He's going to be really good if he can put it together, I feel like he can emerge as a perennial title contender at PSU under Cael & Co.
Also, this is such a fucking terrible photoshop job lmao
One more thing I'll add about Beau:
I remember when he was in 8th grade going into his freshman year Seminary HC Scott Green made a comment that the most talented guy in the room was this kid named Bartlett.
The room at the time contained guys like Nick Reenan, Mason Manville, Jack Davis, Jake Hendricks, Jake Riegel, etc.
The only match for PSU’s wrestling dynasty is their shit-tier social media swagger.
Nice tweet by Jordan
Just now getting around to watching Beat the Streets. It's always a good watch.
- Love the way Yianni wrestles. I tried to wrestle like that - with funky scramble style - back in my hay day.
- Punia is India's 4th ever world finalist. He's a poor guy who works as a train station ticket agent back in India.
- Cox legit went for a suplex.
- HSer Aragonna blasted that homie. Utter domination, though it looked like Busirelli (sp?) didn't train or prepare much for that match.
- Askren vs Burroughs was a disgrace and pointless. Does Askren even train in Freestyle anymore? Wrestling the best wrestler? Ok.
Nolf is bumping up to 74kg for the trials.
That means another IMar-Nolf match is imminent which I don't hate.
Winner gets JB.
Jamie Hernandez, oh my.
Takes out Jordan Decatur, Frankie Tal-Shahar, and Roman Bravo-Young in the trials.
Gets teammate Gabe Tagg in best of 3 finals tomorrow.
Very impressive performance from a kid who hasn't always had the greatest results.
Best of 3 Finals to decide our Junior World Team:
57: Malik Heinselman vs Vitali Arujau
61: Gabe Tagg vs Jamie Hernandez
65: Yahya Thomas vs Keegan O'Toole
70: Sammy Sasso vs Brayton Lee
74: David Carr vs Shane Griffith
79: Aaron Brooks vs Parker Keckeisen
86: Trent Hidlay vs Victor Marcelli
92: Lucas Davison vs Brandon Whitman
97: Sam Schuyler vs Tanner Sloan
125: Trent Hillger vs Mason Parris. Anthony Cassioppi won the Open and would have awaited the winner of this match but elected not to compete. Brands Bros strike again.
Very solid team overall, but kind of a black hole at 92 and 97 regardless of who wins tomorrow night. 61 and 65 are not ideal. Rest are medal candidates. Brooks is probably a big favorite to win gold depending on who else is at his weight.
Russia's team is below. Shiraev at 65kg is world class, medalling at SR level events. Bagaev at 92 is a stud. 74 is good. 86 beat DePrez in repechage last year but seems beatable. Don't know anything about their guys at 57 and 70. Couple guys I only know because they have older brothers who wrestle (and are quite good).
Shiraev and Bagaev will be heavy gold favorites. Foroutanrami (IRI) will be a heavy favorite at 97kg if he wrestles.
My first thought was that the Ossetia family has one hell of a wrestling gene.
Took me a second to realize those weren’t in First Name Last Name order.
Am I correct that since Bartlett competed in the seniors he was not able to compete in the juniors?
For some reason Russia is big on regional origins of wrestlers. It's a major source or something. I guess they don't really have scholastic programs so it makes sense. I don't ever want to get into a fight with an Ossetian or Dagestani.
Forgot to mention this, but Ahmed Gadzhimagomedov, the Russian that Dake beat at world's last year, considered the #2 guy in the world (and also beat Dake badly 2 years ago at the Yarygin) just had knee surgery and is missing worlds.
Dake unfortunately also has a knee injury, which is why he hasn't wrestled since he won gold last year. He probably won't be ready for Final X, and will have a special wrestle off with Valencia/Hall/Ringer at a later date.
Oh. My. God.
Colton McCrystal absolutely dominating Dean Heil in rd 1 of WTT.
Up 13-5 with about 10 seconds left, about to tech Heil. Goes for a chest wrap for the tech but instead gives up a takedown to make it 13-7. Heil goes for a lace but can't get it.
Reset with about 7 seconds left.
Heil gets a 4 and a turn to make it 13-13 for the win.
Incredible. Match was OVER!
Was unaware we would be mobbin this morning
Sasso up 8-0 on Brayton Lee going into 2nd on way to an easy tech fall in Match #1
And then Sasso gassed harder than I've seen anyone gas since Boltukaev at the Olympics. Brayton Lee started scoring easy takedowns and was actually laughing when down 8-7 because of how gassed Sasso was. He could barely move, it was sad. Lee went on to win easily 11-8.
Sasso has no shot in match 2 unless he can tech him in the first, but I'm not sure he has enough time to recover in time for match 2.
Sasso lost 8-1
