To be fair, they didn’t call these stalls on Amine for Carson that they are today. The 1-2 would be way more fun here
Mekhi Lewis avenged his loss in the Semis then took care of business in the finals. Back on top of the podium.
Really enjoyed his interview tonight, says getting his degree was huge part in coming back and wants to be a role model in all areas and not just wrestling. Immediately view him as smarter than 90% of the fighting sports community
DeSanto threw everything he had at RBY twice and to his credit I guess didn’t do anything stupid and RBY handled him again RBY is favorite but there’s Fix
The dude was a legit celebrity all weekend. Any time he was out in the main arena, he was signing autographs and taking selfies with kids. I'll bet he spent 30+ minutes out there just taking pics before the finals started.
He was suspended for a few months. Ultimately cleared. https://www.twincities.com/2020/01/...veson-back-on-top-after-six-month-suspension/
The atmosphere in the arena was great, especially on Saturday night for the semi's which is always the best wrestling of any tournament. It was everyone vs. Iowa - the place would go bonkers any time an Iowa kid lost. All the traveling fans that came in were nice and enjoyable to interact with - we sat next to a few Penn St. fans and they were super friendly and knowledgeable which was nice. We did have a couple Iowa guys behind us who would incessantly scream for stalling any time their opponent would take a damn step backwards which I thought was especially rich considering they are the kings of looking busy on the mat while actually doing nothing. The only negative was in the championship rounds when everyone injury forfeited and we only got to see maybe half the matches we should have. I understand why they did it to a point, but from a fan's perspective it fucking sucked because there were some great matches we got cheated from seeing. Overall, it was an awesome weekend and would recommend going to anybody that wants to enjoy the best wrestling in the country. I had gone to a couple Big XII tournaments and they were fun, but this was a whole other level.
This is not quite true. They couldn't file charges against him because Minnesota at the time specified that a woman who voluntarily became intoxicated, essentially could not be raped. Gable got out based on a loophole that was closed last summer Recent case: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2021/03/26/minnesota-rape-alcohol/ Loophole closed: https://www.twincities.com/2021/06/30/mn-lawmakers-close-loophole-in-rape-law/ To say he was "cleared", I believe is not the full picture. He wasn't able to be charged based on the barbaric interpretation of the law. If he committed that act today, he would most certainly be facing charges.
Thanks for the clarification. Let's not go down the cancel path trying to tear down a young, successful black man. He was accused, never convicted.
I had never heard about the rape accusations previously, so I apologize. I just thought it was cool of him to make time for all the kids (and some weird adults) who wanted pictures and autographs from him.
Again, what was he convicted of? Why can't he be a hero figure to some kid somewhere? If he was never convicted there's as good of a chance of a false accusation as anything.
