J Cox with the MD to close it out. Mizzou wins by 9. Their unbeaten streak continues. MyMar's redshirt remains unpulled.
You guys are great at certain areas 125, 165. Good at 133, 141, 157, 174 Not having Snyder hurts. Haines needs to wrestle. Two different kinds of Steibers - and this one is banged up and not his brother. Just my take...
Tav is definitely the guy over Haines at this point I think. Either way Snyder will take over next year. We didn't have much of a chance after JDJ got pinned and Micah lost with a last second TD. If JDJ wins his match we end up tieing for the dual. Overall not going to worry about a dual in December. We lost a couple last december as well, IIRC. What matters is March. I have faith that Micah will be ready at that time. Courts and Mark Martin...not so much. Hunter needs to be healthy for OSU to have a shot.
How are the Huskers this year? I could look things up but I trust my T-MB brethren to give me a good idea.
We were top 5, but then got upset by Rutgers this past weekend. We lost on tie-break criteria but it should have never come down to that, we wrestled like utter shit. We should be good all year but the Big 10 is so stacked we will likely finish 3rd or 4th in the conference.
OkSt rolled OU 37-3 today. Highlight of the day is that we pulled the redshirt off Stillwater native Kaid Brock and the freshman pinned Cody Brewer, the defending national champ, in 42 seconds. Also, Dieringer continued his dominance with a major
Ends up Oracle, Jr. just has a badly sprained hand. He tried getting it taped up, but that didn't help. Luckily he has a few weeks before the next competition. So far he is 3-3 for the season. Not bad for a Freshman going against juniors and seniors. He has also got to put on some muscle weight. He is really having a hard time with the guys that are near the top end of the 285 weight class as he is only coming in at around 223.
was at the dual tonight and seeing Dieringer get a fall in the first was so impressive. He had a takedown in the first five seconds, got a 4-point near fall in the first 20 and then the fall with 32 seconds left. But that Brock kid was every bit as impressive himself. Oh my god. 16-0 tech fall with 1:01 left in the first. Takedown, 4-point near fall, near fall, 4-point near fall, 2-point near fall. Just completely ran his opponent out of the gym
wow I had completely given up on IU wrestling outside of a few individuals because shit we had lost 35 straight B1G duals but I guess we upset Minny last Friday, holy shit. Hadn't beaten them in a dual since '68. Wow
What's your lineup prediction for next year? Obviously Jordan(s), Martin, Tomasello, Snyder, and Ryan seems like he's doing well. No clue who else we have to fill out the other spots besides Hayes. b7 SugarShaun , feel free to drop any knowledge you have my way.
My guess: 125: Tomasello (could potentially move up to 133) 133: Keyshawn Hayes (I think Luke Pletcher definitely redshirts, Keshawn Hayes is more of a natural 141 but I could certainly see him at 133 if Micah sticks at 141. Other possibility here is Jose Rodriguez.) 141: Micah Jordan (Could go to 149 potentially, but the plan is to stay at 141 I believe) 149: Cody Burcher (meh) 157: Jake Ryan 165: Justin Kresevic 174: Bo Jordan (I think Bo and Myles both bump up..if Bo is at 165 and Myles at 174 that would probably leave Rozema at 184 which is no good) 184: Myles Martin 197: Kollin Moore HWT: Kyle Snyder
Iowa looked strong at the Midlands. Burak looks good. I'm excited that the duals on BTN are getting ready to get going
Having Snyder back is huge obviously, but he's only wrestling for the PSU and Wisconsin duals, then B1G Championship and NCAAs. He's useless against PSU's black hole at HWT and could very well see a forfeit there. Against Wisconsin Brock Horwath wasn't beating Tavanello. So essentially this is just for Big Tens and NCAAs. Selfishly I like it, but you don't want to see a month or two of folkstyle have any impact on him bringing gold back to the USA.
Jimmy Gulibon loses to Cortland Schuyler of Lehigh Zeke Moisey loses to Steven Polakowski of Minnesota Also whoever did the seeding at the Scuffle...not sure what they are thinking.
Drew Templeman, Tanner Harms and Bryce Meredith won individual titles for Wyoming last weekend at the Reno Tournament of Champions. I'll be interested to see how they fare this weekend edit looks like Templeman and Meredith both got pins in their first matches
Thorn with a quartetfinal decision over Meredith, 7-6. Pretty sure both his defeats are by 1 point with one against a stud from OK St and now this Gopher
Semifinal matchups (a few of these guys are only unranked because they are redshirting..JoJo smith @157 and Logan Massa @165 are both favorites in their matches) 125: #4-Nico Megaludis, PSU vs. #14-Darian Cruz, LEH 125: #5-Eddie Klimara, OSU vs. Brent Fleetwood, CMU 133: #1-Nahshon Garrett, Cornell vs. #11-Kaid Brock, OSU 133: #4-George DiCamillo, UVA vs. #9-Jordan Conaway, PSU 141: #1-Dean Heil, OSU vs. #16-Tommy Thorn, MINN 141: #5-Joey McKenna, STAN vs. #16-Zach Horan, CMU 149: #1-Zain Retherford, PSU vs. #9-Matt Cimato, Drexel 149: Mitch Finesilver, Duke vs. #6-Evan Henderson, UNC 157: #3-Jason Nolf, PSU vs. #13-Mitch Minotti, LEH 157: Ian Brown, LEH vs. Joe Smith, OSU 165: #1-Alex Dieringer, OSU vs. Justin Staudenmayer, UNC 165: #19-Duke Pickett, Cornell vs. Logan Massa, MICH 174: #2-Brian Realbuto, Cornell vs. #6-Bo Nickal, PSU 174: #5-Ethan Ramos, UNC vs. #1-Kyle Crutchmer, OSU 184: #1-Gabe Dean, Cornell vs. #14-Matt Miller, Navy 184: #8-Lorenzo Thomas, Penn vs. #4-Nate Brown, LEH 197: #1-Morgan McIntosh, PSU vs. #8-Jake Smith, WVU 197: #5-Brett Pfarr, MINN vs. #3-Connor Hartmann, Duke 285: #-4-Austin Marsden, OSU vs. #10-Riley Shaw, CSU 285: #8-Denzel Dejournette, App. St. vs. #6-Mike Kroells, MINN
Wrestlers that are redshirting wrestle unattached and are not ranked by the different services that rank wrestlers. Massa and Smith would both be ranked in the top 10 in their respective weight classes if they were not redshirting.
Gotcha, so a kid who wrestles unattached isn't using a season of competition? I know they don't wear the normal uniform and don't receive travel expenses and meals and all that so I guess it makes sense
DiCamillo dominates Conway for 7 minutes, then Conaway gets two takedowns in the last 30 seconds for the win. Awesome match. Kaid Brock looked to badly hurt his knee against Nahshon Garrett after a mat return
Right. You still wrestle when you redshirt, but your results don't count towards team results. Jo Jo Smith's results in the semis and finals will have no baring on the team race between PSU and OKST.
Heading out now after the 174 matches. Nickal-Realbuto was amazing. PSU slammed the door shut on the team race with Nickal winning and Crutchmer losing. At this point I think it's more likely that PSU runs away with an NCAA championship than it is that they lose it. They have legit finalist contenders at 125, 157, 174, and 197, and now Conaway just beat DiCamillo....If Nevills was healthy it'd be a slam dunk.
If you had Realbuto and Crutchmer wrestling each other for 5th place in your office pool, congrats. Crutchmer wins the battle that you thought would decide #1 but instead is probably for #5. Nickal is the easy choice for #1 now.
OSU-Illinois wrestling dual today 125: NaTo vs Who Cares NaTo - 6 133: JDJ vs Zane Richards ZR - 3 141: Micah Jordan vs Brock Ervin Micah - 4 149: Cody Burcher or Hunter Stieber vs Kyle Langenderfer ? 157: Jake Ryan vs IMART IMART - 4 165: Bo Jordan vs Steven Rodrigues Bo - 3 174: Myles Martin vs Zac Brunson MyMar - 3 (close one) 184: Kenny Courts vs Jeff Koepke Koepke - 3 (another close one) 197: Mark Martin vs Andre Lee Martin - 3 (could see Martin losing though) 285: Nick Tavanello vs Brooks Black Tav - 3 (yet another close one) Dual will be decided 174 and up. Myles Martin vs Zac Brunson is obviously the one that everyone is waiting for, but JDJ vs Zane is a big one as well.
Am I wrong in thinking the seniors blow? Courts did make the semis last year at least but those 3 always seem to be getting disappointing results.
Jake is in total damage control mode against martinez. Definitely coach's son. Not gonna matter though, he's going to give up the TF.
Jake looked terrible more than imart looked amazing there. Not sure what's going on there but he quit on that match.
No Zac Brunson? Damn! Really wanted to see MyMar get tested. Myles looks like he's more than a weight class bigger than this kid.
Gonna come down to Lee vs Martin for all the marbles. OSU wrestled without Tavanello/Snyder, Burcher/Hunter, and Courts. Illinois wrestled without Zac Brunson.
