Can't help too much with the Heil question. He's a dominating wrestler but usually only wins by a couple of points. I think Cael's initial contract was 9 years 1,000,000. Not sure what kind of bonus's are built in there? Basically comes down to this: PA is #1 State for wrestling recruiting. Add in it's surrounded by some other great states: Ohio, NJ, etc. it was a no brainer.
I haven't been on all weekend... I'm not even sure what it was, but I just changed it to the WWE one. I thought about using the National Championship trophy or the PSU icons, but thought WWE would work regardless of what time of year it is. Was there talk about the icon that I missed or something?
Thought folks might be, but then we wont have this problem next year when I'm out of town during the NCAA tournament.
Lmbo, I wish I could say I did that on purpose, but it was fat fingers -- I swear I thought I selected the PSU logo.
So I don't know the wrestling rules as well but I know he's expected to be in the lineup next year. Anyone know the deal with that?
From what my brother heard at nationals, Cael is likely setting up for another 'run.' As of now, it *seems* like the plan is to RS Nick Lee at 141. As of now, he's not needed and the plan is forward looking. I also expect a future RS for Mark Hall, probably after 2017-2018 or 2018-2019. This will allow some of the young studs to RS (Manville, Berge, Wittlake, etc) to wrestle a year. Halls heaviest weight this year was 178. He really should be a 165 but won't cut for anything other than freestyle. Said he hates cutting. If Pitt releases him, he's immediately eligible. If not, he loses a year. At least that is the old rule, not sure if it has changed. Transferring within conference in the Big Ten is an automatic loss of a year. See Cortez.
Snyder is incredible. It's hard not like or root for a guy like that. He is like watching a 141 lb wrestling against heavyweights.
That jacked, bald guy that ESPN kept showing and saying was Snyder's father, supposedly just some random fan. The production by espn overall was pretty awful, especially for the 3rd/5th place matches.
When watching the semis they put a graphic on the full screen when their was a break in Snyders match, but Walz match was still going on. So missed about 15-20 seconds. It was fucking absurd.
VT has made Tony Robie the full head coach. What do you guys think of the move? Sounds like it is a good one.
Nah. Nothing but love here. I've always been a cael fan since his days at ISU. He's got you guys rolling and it won't be over anytime soon. Can't really blame the kid. I do know I'm ready for the 2clown experiment in iowa city to be over but at this point, who the fuck can we get that's better.
With Teasdale flipping to PSU, don't be shocked to see RBY head elsewhere. Personally I'd rather have RBY, he is destined for big things.
RBY is also very good but he hasn't been coming to PSU for a long time. He will also, likely, get too big and crowd into our future lineups. Teasdale is a much better fit and most likely a career 133 and won't crowd into Nick Lee and other future recruits. Teasdale was a terrible fit at Iowa. He likes to attack from neutral at all times, kind of reminds me of Micah Jordan for some reason, even his struggles on bottom at times. Also, I wouldn't bet against Cael's track record over choosing which recruit will have the higher upside.
Very true. But a lot of that of the results there have to do with the PSU staff's ability to develop wrestlers as well.
On twitter RBY just started following Brands, Happel, JRent, and some Minnesota account I'm not familiar with. That's Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
All this crowding of recruits in wrestling lineups. Once PSU's next run of 4-7 straight titles ends, I wonder how PSU will incorporate Casey Cunningham's 3 boys, Cody Sanderson's 2 boys and of course Cael's 2 boys? 5 out of 7 are separated by4 years or less? And all will likely end up at PSU for essentially zero $$. Still about 6 years off or so.
Read that UWW changed the weigh-in rules from day before to day of, seems like that would significantly raise the chances of Tomasello going back to 125.
He is clearly 57kg this offseason, but as of January 1, 2018 UWW is adding 2 weight classes. The classes haven't been announced yet but the original plan was 55kg, 60kg, 65kg as the three lowest classes. That would make Nate a 60kg in 2018, which would actually line up nicely with 133.
You think his height will be a problem at 60KG? Seemed to really struggle finishing shots on taller guys but that may have been bc he was injured late in the year
Depends who's at the weight class. The extra KG can make a big enough difference that guys will be at different classes. It could be enough to send Stieber back up, and he may choose to settle into an Olympic weight class in preparation for 2020.
I don't know anything about Nate's freestyle level, is he pretty good? What's his potential? I v always heard about him more MMA stuff.
