Insane recruiting weekend for Virginia Tech 2018: 6. Mason Parris 11. Brayton Lee 12. Sammy Sasso 17. Mitch Moore (committed) 38. Josiah Rider 2019: 1. Kurt McHenry 7. Julian Ramirez 8. Connor Brady 9. Carter Starocci 11. Brevin Balmeceda 51. Sam Latona All 2018 guys on their OV. That's an extremely impressive group of 2018 kids and the 2019 visitor list is even crazier
Flo updated 2018 rankings this week, Penn State fans will love flo even more 1. Stevenson 2. Wittlake 3. Aaron Brooks 4. Beard 5. Carr 6. Parris 7. Hoffman 8. Lewan 9. Teasdale 10. Teemer 11. Lee 12. Sasso 13. RBY Lee at 20 and Nevills at 26 Mattox at 22, Heinselman at 40
They were saying their July rankings were off--otherwise these new rankings make no sense. Nevills hasn't wrestled since July and he moved down from like #9, RBY was 3 or 4 and he has only wrestled at the us open against seniors since then (lost to tony Ramos). For my money, Beard is #2 behind Stevenson. He will win championships. PSU will have enormous success with the guys they are getting, who cares where Flo has them. OSU would have a great class as well if they get Carr/Sasso as well. ISU might be the biggest competition for both. Karoly also decommitted from Northwestern this week and will visit OSU. He's probably a 184 in college, so there's a fit there.
This sent Iranian and Russian social media into a tizzy, even got a response from Sadulaev on insta but I don't speak Russian. Burroughs said he may be wrestling for Iran (Bimeh Razi, the team Titan Mercury beat in the finals last year) in the World Clubs Cup. That would be fun to watch and I actually hope it happens. JB is a god in Iran. Plus we could maybe get to see another round of Burroughs-Dake?
U23 team trials and WNO on Sunday. WNO is one of the best run events of the year IMO. Flo does a great job of marketing it and making it fun for all parties.
Not as high on Beard as you, but I'm extremely high on RBY. He will win championships. Really high on Wittlake too. He has the style that is really successful under Cael. Lee and Beard are already in State College, I think both are foregoing their senior years to train at the NLWC, ala Nick Lee. I wouldn't be surprised to see younger Manville eventually do the same.
Oh RBY is a stud, absolutely agree with you on that one. #13 is too low for him. Wouldn't be shocked if/when he wins a title but he just has a much tougher road than Beard. I'd take him over Teasdale. Excited to watch them both go this weekend.
The start of the NCAA season and the NWCA All Star classic is officially a month away! Matches are getting announced already. Men 125: Darian Cruz, Sr. (Lehigh) vs. Nick Piccininni, So. (Oklahoma State) 133: 141: 149: 157: 165: 174: Mark Hall, So. (Penn State) vs. Zahid Valencia, So. (Arizona State) 184: 197: 285:
I know they asked Coon but I don't think he accepted. Cael said any of the PSU kids could go (as opposed to sort of being against it in the past) and only Hall and Nevills said yes.
Daton Fix registered the U23 trials. So we're gonna be seeing NaTo-Fix in FS tomorrow??? ummmm yes please. I don't even know who wins that one. I don't think Nate wants none of that trap arm though.
When and how do I watch this and what time does WNO start? Got a 4-5 hour drive tomorrow so hopefully can watch at least 1.
WNO starts at 2 PM ET I believe, in one hour. Best of 3 U23 Finals are at 3:30 CT. 57kg: Tomasello-Fix (oooooooooooh my!) 61kg: McKee-Isaac Jimenez 65kg: McKenna-Lewallen (Boo freakin Lewallen beat University's champ Robbie Mathers in a 13-11 shootout, then teched Jaydin Eierman 15-5! what! Please get this kid a starting spot in the lineup!) 70kg: Richie Lewis-Tyler Berger (nice wins for Lewis off of injury, backing up all his talk) 74kg: IMar-Marstellar (they were the only two to register at the weight, but they were the only 2 that mattered TBH) 86kg: Martin-Brooks (The Mullet beat Brett Pfarr 4-0 in the semis. Also went 3-0 vs Martin in college last year) 97kg: Walz-Chaid (love Walz at 97) 125kg: Kroells-Hemida (Hemida teched Kosoy 11-0 in semis, impressive) My picks: 57: Fix 2-1 61: McKee 2-0 65: McKenna 2-1 70: Berger 2-0 74: IMar 2-0 (but damn this is good!) 86: Brooks 2-1 97: Walz 2-0 125: Kroells 2-0
My WNO picks: 113: McHenry over Heinselman 8-5 (This is going to be target practice for Kurt, but Heinselman has some funky leg defense so we're going to see some really fun positions) 120: Howard over McKee 4-3 152: B Lee over McCoy 13-5 126: Teasdale over Glory 3-2 132: RBY over Silva 5-3 138: Teemer over Moore WBF 160: Carr over J Lee in SV 125FS: Kilty over Figueroa 8-3 195: Beard over Hoffman 5-3 in OT 145: Sasso over Artalona 5-4 Only non-#1 i'm taking is Sasso, but Artalona could make me look stupid. Think Lee could beat Carr too.
McHenry at the buzzer, impressed by Malik though. Just bad timing by him, was 3/4 to a takedown at end of first and then lost at the buzzer. Only needed another second for an escape too.
Heinselman is really freakin good, but McHenry is 10x better. The gap between them is only going to increase. Heinselman looks like he's 120-125, McHenry weighed in at 105. A 105 pound kid isn't throwing McNasty like Malik did. Heinselman is a future AA imo but McHenry is special if he can bulk up.
McKee-Howard are both dudes. That was fun as hell to watch. Really nice win for Patrick. I don't ever want to fight a guy named McKee.
Ramirez with circus defense, no wonder he got hurt going into the splits like 5 times and doing cartwheels.
Folk really needs to do something with wrestlers using going out of bounds to their advantage, Hidlay did it twice in the 3rd
Big Hidlay fan after he catches a hoagie out of NOWHERE and takes a huge bite seconds after pinning Ramirez.
184 yeah. Thought he'd be a 174 but he's gotten noticeably bigger this offseason. I don't see a 184 on the OSU roster behind MyMar and they'll need one to redshirt next year during his senior season. I think JRam is that guy.
Mike Mal literally covered the Peterson that Teemer hit for the win in Behind the Dirt this week. Looks like Moore didn't watch. 1:50 or so. Had a feeling he hit it which is why I predicted WBF. http://www.flowrestling.org/video/1...is-a-problem-from-every-position#.Wdp-zWiPJPY
Wow, Hoffman takes down Beard. Beard is a specimen, Hoffman has a way to go to catch up to him in that department.
What a way to close out the show!!! Sasso-Artalona in a crazy scramble, Sasso hits a cradle and FINISHES it!
U23 Finals Match One: 57: Fix over Tomasello 8-7 61: McKee over Jimenez 11-0 65: McKenna over Lewallen 5-1 74: IMar over Marstellar 7-2 86: Brooks over Martin 9-5 97: Walz over Chaid 8-1 125: Kroells over Hemida 10-0
Tomasello took down Fix at the Buzzer for the win but they took the points off the board! Had like 6 sportsgasms during that match. Daton Fix is the nastiest mf'er alive what do you think tho, this 2 or what?
