I’m probably missing some adjustments but sentencing guidelines would be between 210 months and statutory limit of 20 years.
more or less she was convicted for statements she made to investors and acquitted for statements her company made to patients
Not really. You couldn’t really draw a direct line to Elizabeth Holmes misleading individuals. Most of the tests were run on good machines. They just weren’t their own. The tests that were on their machines were voided when she allegedly became aware their validity was in question. Having inaccurate tests with new technologies isn’t fraud. The FDA knew they were not only using their machines. The product never really became pervasive enough to defraud the public. On the other hand they have her on tape falsely representing the technology to investors. That portion was pretty cut and dry.
Thirded. Its great. It's crazy how dramatic documentaries about Uber, Theranos and Wework all dropped at the same time
This is the wrong angle, ftr. It’s an academia issue, not so much a pharma industry issue. Also hits way too close to home
Sentencing guidelines would support life if the judge found all aggravating factors Prosecution asked for 15 years Probation office said 9 Defense asked for home confinement or at most 18 months lol
Watched all of the episodes Friday on a productive vacation week, seemed well done. Hate to be too cynical but felt like the people involved early in Theranos seemed to get too much deference but maybe they really believed it could be done. David Boies and the inhouse counsel lady are really portrayed as only in it for the money which is obviously accurate but they seem all around scummy. Richard Fuisz's wikipedia is a mess of stuff, show seemed to portray him a lot better than in real life. No idea about the Lockerbie bombing stuff but his connections to Middle East dicatorships are some sketchy shit, you don't met 10-15 high level Syrian officials as a non-govenment employee with clean hands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Fuisz
A lot of questions are being asked that should already be answered by my “I’m not fleeing the country” t shirt
All these fuckos have no id, no ethos, no ideology, just suck evil dick for money I hate every single one of them
That was legitimately terrible, honestly embarrassing for that writer to be that easily taken in and get nothing of consequence from the time spent(other than curated anecdotes about the “voice” and what not)
Nobody can rival the NYT as a consent manufacturing entity. Certainly not Noam Chomsky (boom roasted)
Every single NYT writer currently has a cabinet full of miracle tonics theyve purchased from traveling salesmen.
I've made a small fortune selling these tonics to them outside of Rust Belt diners and Cracker Barrel's in the South.
