Don’t do this to us AEW stans I would find it fascinating to see Kenny go 120 mph and Orton go 20 though
wait I'm confused, this match is to determine the replacement in EC but people already in the match are taking part in this?
Well there out of time, obvious what's happening now. Goddammit. I assume they'll give Kofi another 45+ in the Chamber to try and get him over that way. Worked with Rollins, but eventually he needs to win or its just another pointless push.
oh so Kofi's already announced as the replacement? can't believe none of you guys saw that RKO coming
Yes, he was named the replacement when he entered the gauntlet match. It was going to be one of the three members of New Day
Honestly let Kofi bear Bryan at Mania for the title. Bryan can win it back the next night, it doesn’t even matter
I really wish more people would attend Smackdown shows and tune in on Tuesday nights. It's been good to great TV for nearly a year and they need to be rewarded.
I'm with you... WWE keeps the title on guys way to long. Year long runs is just silly when you have a roster this talented. GIve us excitement and give us multiple champs
Seriously though guys, that sound Kofi made after getting hit with the back breaker was disturbing. I hope he’s alright
They would have to book the match well in advance and push the storyline... Big difference than a throw in Ryder getting a surprise victory
Has Asuka been on SD since winning the belt? What if Asuka attacks Charlotte at the Ric Flair bday and not Becky? Get revenge on her for ruining her undefeated streak and wants the rematch. Hell even intertwine the stories and have Becky v Charlotte at fast lane, winner in main event and Asuka could cost Charlotte the match and set up two 1 v 1 matches. Because they need to do something with Asuka
What does Becky do to Vince to get him to change his mind? They took the heat off of Steph (someone they could’ve done a match or attack on) to a man with one leg in the grave in Vince. Good luck with this overbooked garbage
It will be something dumb like she has to win an “impossible” match against Nia at fast lane to get reinstated for mania
Listening to busted open this morning and they suggested or a caller did that Vince would force her to Beat Asuka at Mania for the right to fight Becky and Charlotte in the main event. How unoriginal can this company be if they just copy and pasted the Daniel Bryan WM30 moment. Someone mentioned that Vince has run out of ideas and I believe this to be true. A man his age shouldn’t be leading the creative direction of a company like this. He’s time has passed. He’s groomed his replacement and it’s time to hand over the creative to HHH. Go play in the land of XFL Vince. I really wish these smark crowds wouldn’t sing along to his theme song or bow down to the man when he comes out. Rather boo the shit out of him and chant at him to retire. Send a clear message to the guy responsible for you hating the product over the last 10 years
It's amazing how much NXT has maintained its quality despite so much turnover. I honestly thought the show would wither after the core group of Neville, Zayn, Owens, Balor, etc, left. Instead they've just kept on plugging away with interesting characters, in-depth stories, memorable match-ups, fun twists and MOST IMPORTANTLY, satisfying conclusions. Don't tell me that template won't work on Raw or Smackdown. You just need patience and a commitment to tell the story you want to tell.
Not only did NXT lose the on air talent they also lost announcers and writing staff who moved on to Smackdown and RAW. When you let creative people gather together and work with the talent you more then likely get good results when the guy at top has a pulse for his audience. Paul has that. Vince kills creative, ignored wrestlers input and has no idea about his current audience and the drastic drop in raitings is a reflection of that.
I think having continuous turnover in NXT is a good thing. It is almost like an old territory was run. If you are running arena shows and keep having the same talent month after month, you are going to see a huge decline in your audience after a while. When you move those wrestler out and bring in new talent to feature, your audience hasn't seen those guys before and will pay to come see them because it's something new. The same translates for TV. In saying that, WWE has enough star power to provide fresh matchups and interesting storylines to keep the audience coming back. They just simply choose not to do it.
This was hit on a bit below but NXT is positioned in a way the WWE isn't. So Owens runs his course, he has a huge blow off feud where he drops the belt. He's then gone and they don't have to write anything else for him. In NXT they usually have to write what, 2 maybe 3 storylines for any given wrestler before they are promoted or cut. Really Gargano and Ciampa are the only ones I can think of who are on their 3rd go around. You had DIY fighting to get to the top, Ciampa turns on Gargano, now Ciampa and Gargano with an uneasy reunion both as champs. WWE's problem is that they can write a good feud for a character, but after that they don't have anything for them. Only a chosen few get to constantly be in the spotlight. Cena wasn't burying people, the WWE just didn't know how to highlight feuds for characters that just lost a huge feud to Cena.
I get that, but NXT also has only two male titles, and one of them is a very recent addition. The company has been very good about creating non-title feuds, which is what someone like Kevin Owens in your illustration would have after his lengthy title run.
Right but how many of those non-title feuds are between 2 guys that have been in the company for a long time? The big non-title feuds are usually between two guys right before one or both go into title feuds. Like Dream vs Black, or Ciampa vs Gargano. At most you are getting what, 1 major non-title feud per Takeover cycle?
Counterpoint: WWE (WWF) used to be very good at telling stories with their whole roster. Yes they had a smaller roster back in the day but they also had many more guys at or around the top and only one "top" to go between them (pre brand-split). it's not impossible to tell stories that don't revolve around a title. Shoot, every WrestleMania season the company wakes up and decides to run a half-dozen non-title feuds, all in the lead up to the big show. This year we may be getting Orton vs Ali, for one example. Why not do that from May-December?
Any chance this plays out as a move to unify the women's title? She has to beat Asuka to make it a triple threat, beats Asuka then unifies the title in the main event? That was their top star can be on both brands, if they allow that.
I’ve been on the wagon of having a show dedicated to just the female talent and remove them from RAW and Smackdown. The female roster isn’t large enough for two divisions, two world titles and tag team belts. Putting them on a one or two hour weekly show would be great. They can still tour with the RAW/Smackdown brands but leave TV for them to have sole spotlight. I would also have them roll with women only PPVs and maybe add the title matches to Mania I doubt this story will lead to going with one title but it wouldn’t be a bad idea. But instead of doing a becky vs Asuka then a triple threat I would just make it a fatal four way for a single unified title.
I really hope that creative for Orton is a matchup with AJ at Mania. Orton coming in from behind hitting the RKO to beat AJ in the gauntlet match Pair that with AJ enters the Chamber first. Battles all night and starts a rally hitting finisher after finished to clear the ring as Orton (last to enter) pod is opened and boom RKO and pins AJ. Let Orton spend the next 6 weeks just RKOing in the ring, the back, the parking lot till they face off at Mania
This is a big year for the WWE. Expect a big push all the way around with the Fox move and AEW launching towards the end of the year. They generally do well with something up their ass (WrestleMania weekend, the few weeks after the last Brand split) so hopefully this will lead to a better ongoing product.
