It was fun just seeing Mulder be Mulder, but the dots he somehow connects suddenly that he hadn't in the previous 9 seasons was pretty ridiculous.
I dont know I would say it was bad, but this definitely bothered me. hopefully the super soldier storyline doesnt come back up.
Plus the CGI in last night's episode was awful. I know that they probably got a pretty decent budget for these episodes, but TV CGI is rarely good.
Is this on every night this week? I never watched X Files during it's original run. Didnt do much for me, but I'll see this out. It's only 6 eps - right?
I tried to start the original run recently because I should love this, but not being HD was killing me. Is it worth fighting through? Edit: Guess I'm full of it, just checked and Netflix is now running it HD. So, into the rabbit hole I go.
It took me a long ass time to get through the first two seasons, but after that it gets good, at least until season 5. That's where I am right now.
Didn't watch Monday night because Sunday night was so bad. It literally looked like Duchovny was about to bust out laughing in a few scenes. Writing is atrocious. Spoiler And NO FUCKING ALIENS, the government has been fabricating aliens and the paranormal for years? No thanks. Did bust out laughing when the alien from Roswell was crawling away and the guy in a suit yells "it still might be dangerous," and pops a few rounds in its back, immediately followed up by an entire military platoon opening fire on the alien.
Agreed. The acting was much better and being a monster of the week episode instead of all of the aliens from the original series were fake was a good step.
https://www.cia.gov/news-information/blog/2016/take-a-peek-into-our-x-files.html Take a Peek Into Our “X-Files” The CIA declassified hundreds of documents in 1978 detailing the Agency’s investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). The documents date primarily from the late 1940s and 1950s. To help navigate the vast amount of data contained in our FOIA UFO collection, we’ve decided to highlight a few documents both skeptics and believers will find interesting. Below you will find five documents we think X-Files character Agent Fox Mulder would love to use to try and persuade others of the existence of extraterrestrial activity. We also pulled five documents we think his skeptical partner, Agent Dana Scully, could use to prove there is a scientific explanation for UFO sightings. The truth is out there; click on the links to find it. I thought it was a great episode. Would have fit right in with Season 5 and episodes like Bad Blood, The Post-Modern Prometheus, or Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose.
Same here. I finally saw last weeks and I thought it was hilarious how Fox was making fun of himself and with Murray and kumail as the guest stars.
I guess I'm just a little shocked that this is the finished product after all of the hype and marketing behind it from Fox. Like I thought I'd chosen the wrong program on demand, it was so pitifully bad. I never watched a single episode of the original series....was it always like this? It feels like the entire production and acting staff treated it as one big joke.
Big fan of the original series but I'm struggling with these new episodes. I love the cheesy murder stuff but seems like it's a waste of time with this mini run being so short. Why not make it 10-15 episodes?
I haven't seen it yet, so you guys have me concerned. That said, I am such a fanboy that even if it is a caricature of itself I will probably still enjoy it just because I am so happy to have the show back on some level.
Only have seen the 1st one the first night, am catching up with the last 3 on my DVR now Just stopping by to say the nolatagia when they play the original intro every episode hits me in my happy place
Also mulders timeline has me confused On some episodes he's clean shaven and in a suit like we are accustomed to seeing Then in the episode with Joel mchale he's all disheveled and scully makes a comment like he's been a hermit for a decade
You never watched the original so you're not aware of the spoof/cheese dick/totally irreverent episodes where they all over act and the plot is over the top. It's like the singing episodes or the animated episodes other long running shoes do. I'm curious why you would watch a show you never previously had seen before?
This run hasn't been as good as the original but I'm still enjoying it. Looking forward to next week finale
I'm confused as to why they'd do episodes like this when they're only doing a 6 episode series. I thought there would be a little more continuity with it being so short.
What in the fuck at this episode? This must've been Duchovny's coke-fueled ultimatum episode. "I'm only coming back if Moulder gets high and stops 9/11 pt. 2! And there's a zombie terrorist! Oh ... and there's a mini-Scully AND a mini-Moulder. And it's gotta have The Smoking Man or fuck you! Sure, write that episode and I'll come back."
I gave it a chance, but this season has been awful. Will watch the finale because I've watched all the others.
I'm only halfway through the episode, but are they trying to set these two new agents for a new series following these 6 episodes?
