2 new gods released in SMITE yesterday. Hurray
I’m going to not play the shit out of those guys just for you.
2nd tall tale boss is damn near impossible
Sea of Thieves arena mode is so much fun with a coordinated team and is just a train wreck with randoms.
Very fun once you get the hang of it. Super competitive.
The tall tales are also great. Very challenging. Especially if you lose items being attacked and fail one you’re hours into lol
We got chased by a sloop who had us harpooned while we had the shroud breaker on board. I would have been pissed if they sunk us. Haven't done the next mission yet but the puzzles were really good. I tried to do them without a guide and it took a few hours.
Yea if you don’t look up the answers it can take a while to figure out what to do. Shit after #2, you don’t even really know where to go to even start the next ones.
#6 has such severe consequences. The item you need to have is a specific gunpowder keg and you just can’t take a hit of damage on it for hours or you start over. You need a coordinated team.
These new modes kinda make this game incredibly fun.
Really enjoyed playing this with you the other night...
I got on at like 11pm that night IMSORRYGEEZ
TLDR: with this update, Sea of Thieves went from a 4/10 to a 8/10 for me.
So as someone who didn’t really play much SoT when it came out— maybe an hour or two? I just didn’t think there was much to do and that appeared to be right— I wanted to again say how awesome the two new modes are.
Arena is pure sweat and intense if you want to win. I think they will expand this mode with multiple size queues, etc. It’s just really good move by them. It’s very fun, very challenging, and you are basically maniacally yelling with your friends for 20 minutes. In a good way.
There are 9 Tall Tales and they take at least an hour but one took about 4 to do (if you don’t look up the answers). They can take that long for a variety of reasons— if you get rolled up on by other players or skeleton ships, if you damage or lose a piece, of a puzzle or map is really hard, or a boss fight is near impossible (fuck u Briggsy). You can also go back and do them again and they do change a bit which is cool. I beat the final one last night and it was insanely fun. Can’t recommend this enough if you like to work together to solve things with a team.
One of my favorite experiences with friends on box all time. It has just what I want from a co-op type thing. I find this better than any looter shooter I’ve done like destiny or borderlands tbh. I assume they will release similar long form quests routinely? Would be awesome seasonally, but that’s probably overly hopeful.
My biggest complaint is still the game is weak outside of these two things and that the person on person fighting is very.. wonky. The ship on ship is dope.
I vouch for all of this.
Game Pass is really killing it this past month. Just Cause 4, Surviving Mars got put in yesterday. I tried playing Monster Hunter: World for a little bit, seems a little bit daunting for noobs.
MHW was fun the little bit I played it
The glaive is super fun to play with
Seems like a hard game to play solo.
Much better with a friend. I also thought it was hard to learn, but it was really fun once you somewhat know what you’re doing.
Monster hunter world is a great game. I had never played a monster hunter game before and I was able to pick up on how to play pretty quickly.
Thanks to user Taco Sa1ad for getting me addicted to World of Warships. It's the best kind of grind.
Tried it out. Very fun.
Yea I gave it a lot of shit at first and Gin Buckets for grinding it (hey friend), but World of Warships is super fun.
Have to give it a good chance to grind past the first ships. It doesn’t really take off until you have torpedos and other ships for new play styles. I strongly suggest playing japan and British first as their number 2 ships are way way more fun than US.
I spent time with the U.S in the beginning; think I'll switch to Japan for a bit.
That feeling when your torpedo salvo hits home though.
Once you get the hang of torpedoes the game becomes much more fun. At first I couldn’t hit them at all and I actually said I’m just gonna get ships with tons of guns and not use torpedoes... now I load up as Admiral Tanaka on a lovely IJN DD and don’t even fire my guns the entire game
For those of you with game pass, Dead by Daylight is on there now. It's an asymmetrical (1v4) survival horror game. It's a lot of fun and the devs are really dedicated to it. Tomorrow is the game's 3rd anniversary so they're having a big stream to reveal the next DLC killer, Ghostface from Scream, and a bunch of other stuff. They're moving to dedicated servers soon and they plan to continue supporting this game for years to come so it's worth checking out.
This game is fun
Favorite survivors and killers?
Had a lot of fun playing this weekend. This video is long, but helped a decent amount. Learned that it's more important to go for medals rather than survive, like folks do in Friday the 13th.
Detlef Schrempf how are you liking Firewatch?
The character development through the dialogue is incredible but I'm glad I chose to watch a playthrough rather than buying it.
Surviving Mars is on GamePass and it's fun. Bit of a long tutorial to go through, but gameplay is kind of addicting. First Paradox game I've ever played on a console, the UI was actually pretty easy to get the hang of.
I bought it in a whim, I really liked the Tell Tale games especially Wolf Among Us. I’m enjoying it but I know it’s short. Incredible dialogue and character development. Voice acting is great.
Oh yeah some of the best voice acting I've seen
Small book incoming...
With survivors you can eventually end up with all of the perks by unlocking the "teachable" perks of each character. To start I'd say Claudette or Meg is best. Claudette's perks are self care (can heal yourself without a med kit), botany knowledge (heal yourself and others faster and more efficiently which means you use fewer charges from a med kit if you're using one) and empathy (allows you to see the auras of injured survivors). Self care is best because it makes it so you don't have to depend on a med kit or another person to get back to full health. Meg's perks are sprint burst, adrenaline and quick and quiet. Adrenaline is best once you get better at the game because it gives you a speed burst and heals you one health state once the exit gates are powered. If you're on the ground it'll pop you up and you'll be injured. If you're injured and in a chase it will heal you completely. Sprint burst is a solid perk that a lot of people use but I don't personally use it. It's an exhaustion perk so once you've used it you can't use it again until you've not sprinted for a certain amount of time based on the level of the perk you have (each perk has three levels). What a lot of people will do is save their sprint burst until the killer is very close then sprint away to get a bit of a head start at the beginning of a chase. Can be really annoying for killers (especially ones like Legion or Leatherface who kinda rely on getting fairly close for their powers to be effective) but as you gain more in-game awareness you can give yourself that head start just by running towards an obstacle earlier to lead a chase when you realize the killer is heading your way.
If you intend to play the game for a long time just figure out which survivor you like the look of. My "main" is Dwight because he's the easiest to make look like me but I don't use any of his perks. Since he's my "main" I have every perk in the game unlocked on him. My current build is adrenaline (Meg perk), mettle of man (Ash perk), balanced landing (Nea perk) and borrowed time (Bill perk on PC but global on console since we don't have Bill).
Just like survivors, all of the perks can be unlocked for any killer once you level up the killer a perk is unique to enough. But obviously, different from survivors, is that each killer has unique powers. As for favorite killers the ones I like to play as most are Hillbilly, Trapper, Wraith and Shape (Michael Myers). Hillbilly is very strong because of the constant availability of a one-hit down with his chainsaw. Hillbilly is one of the best killers on console or PC. Trapper isn't amazing but it's a great feeling when you get into a chase with someone and you kinda funnel them right to a trap you've placed. Wraith is very weak but fun. Mikey is mid-tier but he has some add-ons that can make him a lot more fun and just being mid-tier with a one-hit down ability once you've stalked enough makes him strong enough in a lot of cases.
The undisputed best perk for killers is BBQ and chili (Leatherface perk). When you hook someone it shows you the aura of survivors that are outside your terror radius. Also, if you hook all 4 survivors and have the perk up to level 3, you will get double bloodpoints (the currency you use in-game to go through bloodwebs for items, add-ons and perks). So it's extremely useful in-game and extremely rewarding post-game. You put BBQ and chili on a super mobile killer like Hillbilly and you can basically just hook a person, look around, find an aura then chainsaw sprint right to your next target. Whispers (global perk) is another really good one to have for locating survivors. The perk icon will light up when a survivor is within 32m of you so early in a game it's good for finding your first target and late in a game it's good for finding the last survivor if it comes down to that. Enduring (Hillbilly perk) is another one that is great. Reduces the amount of time you are stunned after a survivor drops a pallet on you or uses decisive strike or head on (perk where survivor can hide in a closet/locker for a few seconds and if the killer walks close enough in front of it you can burst out of the closet/locker and stun them). Pallet stuns will happen a lot throughout a game against good survivors so having Enduring can save a lot of time.
So, yeah, there's a decent bit to get you started. I have over 1,000 hours in the game according to the Xbox app so I can answer pretty much any other questions you might have.
Good to know. I’ve already been using Meg and Claudette every time. Been using hillbilly and Wraith as killers too. Wraith is so so fun
Thought David was good for beginners as well (Per video linked above). That video says Claudette, Meg, and then David as the 3 you should start with as they all have a very useful base perk.
I always played as Meg. Rarely played as the hunter. I've only played with 2 other friends. Game is freaky, and hard.
Haven't played DBD but I played a lot of Friday the last 13th back before they completely ruined the game
Haven't played since they ruined it. What did they do to it? Loved it when it first came out, but hated the public matchmaking. Thought getting a group together to play could be a bit cumbersome, but it was required since the public matchmaking just didn't work at all.
Once Jason gets rage he can no longer be hurt or stunned. Also the lawsuit means they can no longer add new content which basically killed the game. Second part isn't their fault though.
NHL 19 free with gold. Maybe I can break my record of getting a misconduct ejection 30 seconds in
Firewatch was great, even though the ending was disappointing. Beginning of it will hit you right in the feels.
I feel like I should enjoy hockey, but I know as much about hockey as my wife knows about football. May download NHL since it’s free to try.
I’m the same but from my experience NHL games are as fun as any sports games
The 3v3 online with friends is a lot of fun
Lawsuit? So a game was made based on the movies, and they didn't collaborate with the movie makers first? How in the world did they think that would go?
It's a huge clusterfuck. It's not really about the game. The creator or creators of the movies are in some legal dispute that was blocking any more F13 movies from being made. The developers worked with at least one of the creators and had a seemingly good relationship. But eventually the game moved into the crosshairs of the legal battle. The developers had to kill any future DLC because of the lawsuit but promised to maintain the game as is. But I think they bowed out and a new developer took over with a release on Nintendo Switch coming sometime this year.
I think the guy who made the first one got cut out of the rest of them or something like that. But yeah basically all Friday the 13th content had to be put on hold.
That game was fun as hell... Especially in a lobby of 9 people you knew.
For sure. It had a very tiny window but at its peak it was among the most fun online gaming experiences I've had
NBA 2k19 is $3.00 right now.
We need more folks on the killer/survivor games. I've learned that I'm a huge fan of both Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th. Would be fun having a TMB lobby, though we kind of did it back on the F13 release. 47 straight, VictorJ24, Trofie, Bruns, Kelso
So are we getting the next console at E3?
