So first impressions of The Witcher 3: The game is pretty sweet, but there are some issues. First the good things. The gameplay is pretty great so far. It's definitely takes parts of Dragon Age and Skyrim. The combat is more like Dragon Age as its you swinging the sword. The combat is better IMO because it does take some actual skill to attack in TW3. Inventory and RPG elements do remind me of Skyrim. So far the quests are mostly search and fetch, but I'm working toward killing the Griffen in White Orchard. Dislikes: there are a couple. 1 is there is an issue with the sound. You'll hear someone talking and it will grate and cut out a bit. 2 is when you're collecting resources the icons and wording are very small. I have a 55" 1080p screen and it's hard for me to see. It's also the same when in the alchemy and other screens. Also the camera is weird and some of the running controls make me angry. So far though I like it, but I'm only like 3 hours into it.
Combat in this game is its own monster read this http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/04/17/kicking-ass-with-the-witcher-3s-complex-combat-ign-first
Don't really care. Played it for like an hour and hated it. Haven't touched it in like 2 months. The storyline and gameplay itself just didn't interest me, I guess.
so witcher 3 sitting at a 92 on metacritic for PS4 - tied for 3rd highest rated game. Looks like it would be the highest user score thats good news
Skyrim and the other Elder Scrolls games are the only medieval fantasy-esque games that I'll play so I think I just compare everything to that. I'm banking on the Witcher 3 to not suck
Okay I wasn't planning to get The Witcher but that article on the combat sounds awesome. Reconsidering my stance
Game is awesome. Learning the fighting is pretty tough but I'm getting the hang of it. Just killed the griffin....think I'm like 3.5 hours in or so and the griffin fight wasn't tough at all on the 3rd highest difficulty. Was very prepared though.
Witcher 3 thoughts so far? Gonna buy it today also cliff notes on The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited coming out next month?
All you people playing this Witcher game when my friends and I are making fools of ourselves on Farming Simulator. How my friend didn't tip over here is beyond me... http://xboxclips.com/bicranium/e399a159-d04b-47b5-9861-abf708ef98d2
I got Witcher 3 for PS4. Amazing game. Was going to get it on the XBone, but the graphics are crisper on PS4. TBH I'm disappointed in the XBox One and hardly play the damn thing except for FIFA.
Witcher 3 is an amazing game. Played it way too much so far but I am only level 8. about truly caring/noticing "crispness" with regards to the two system. The differences are so incredibly small. I care way more about how a controller feels. Looks amazing on Xbox One to me and I haven't had a single problem with crashes or anything.
The 360 was but the Xbox one is awful. Why they didn't copy the 360 dashboard and party system I'll never understand.
The xbox one party system is pretty flawless now... as good or better than the 360 setup imo Year 1 xbox one was shitty, but they've fixed everything.
No surprise to this thread, but I think Xbox One is fantastic now. Don't have a single complaint aside from broken games. Witcher 3 is changing that opinion quickly though. Cannot wait for Rainbow Six Siege tho
Since January there have been 8 different outages of 1 hour or more with regards to various services. Typically friends. I'm not sure there were 8 outages in the life of the 360.
I must just be lucky to never experience downtimes. Then again, I didn't start playing much until April. I turn the system on, select a game, and it loads. When I select the friends list, which thankfully allows 100+ now, it pops up after a second or two, and I send out invites. Party chat works just like it did on 360. the interface when compared to 360 is superior imo, because of being able to snap. Just snap friends/party or whatever you're doing, and you don't have to blindly stand in game while inviting people. /satisfied xbox one user
I couldn't get party to even boot 2 nights ago, but as soon as I got in a group on Neverwinter, that game's chat system worked flawlessly.
I haven't had any issues with friends its probably been months since I have been annoyed with the party chat/friends and I use them weekly. I do find it comical that out of the possible 150ish days (January to the end of May - rounding up) there have been outages totaling less than 1 day (from what you said, it sounds like its been less than 1 day total - rounding up) and people are upset about it. That means its roughly been working more than 99% of the time since January and its not good enough. Talk about an unattainable level of perfection. I too am a very satisfied Xbox One user.
It was attainable on the 360. Here are the dates and duration of the outages... January 5 - 2 hours (sign-in/parties) January 28 - 5 hours (core services) January 31 - up to 7 hours (pins/store/gaming/friends) February 3 - 6 hours (social) February 15 - 6 hours (friends/gaming) April 17 - up to 7 hours (friends) April 18 - 1 hour (friends) May 1 - 2 hours (friends) Up to 36 total hours of downtime for various services. And something went down just about every week or two from September until January but people just recently started keeping track so that's why we only have back to the beginning of the year. I expected this console to basically take the amazing platform the 360 had built and mostly just speed it up and improve upon it. Instead they tossed everything they had build over almost a decade out the window and started from scratch and as we approach the 2 year mark there are still features from their last gen console that aren't available.
different systems....different OS take different times to load....if load times are making you hate Xbox then please sell it so you dont have to bitch in this thread
Yes....they are going for a different platform. Its an entertainment center...not a gaming console exclusively. It takes a different OS to achieve that therefore they needed to change things. What features aren't available? Also, if you hate the system, sell it and get a PS4 and leave the thread. Bitching about it in this thread is just obnoxious. Make an XB1 sucks thread and keep all your bitching there
360 worked just fine as an entertainment center. All the different entertainment apps worked just as well on it. The set top box integration is a new feature but that's far from a reason to blow everything else up. I actually used my 360 as an additional set top box for U-verse when I had it. It had plenty of entertainment center capability. Biggest feature that still isn't available is the ability to play music from anywhere on your network in the background. I don't even know if it's possible to play music on the X1 from other devices on your network because I haven't tried it because the inability to play it in the background would render it useless to me. And please point out where I said I hated the console or that it sucks. You've got a very strong Xbox One subreddit vibe where any criticism or willingness to admit that the console isn't perfect is met with a plethora of downvotes. I use my X1 almost every day. I'm sorry I have higher standards and wish the console were better but I think I'll go ahead and continue to voice my opinion in this thread.
bic seems like you are bitching to bitch there's a fine line between "having higher standards" and complaining about friends being down for an hour
I like how you cherry picked the single 1 hour occurrence from the list I provided. Don't mind the 5 times out of 8 where the outages lasted 5+ hours. Still, the issue with that 1 hour is that it was likely during prime time for gaming. So say my friends and I get home from work and want to hop on to play. We can't see each other online, we can't invite each other to play games, we can't invite each other to a party. We wait maybe 15-20 minutes to see if stuff starts coming back up. Nothing. We get off for the night. It may have only been down for an hour but we don't have the ability to predict the future and most of the outages have been for several hours so we're not going to just sit there waiting and hoping for too long.
I think he has a right to bitch about it. Most of those outages occurred on weekends. I want to be able to fuck around and play with/talk to friends or watch Netflix on the weekends because the work week is such a pain in the ass.
My xbox 1 has more issues than I would like. I have to do a hard reboot every couple of weeks for random reasons. I think it's fair to say that the day 1 xbones have far fewer issues than the day 1 360s, which is a better comparison than a new 1 vs a refined, end of life 360.
Yeah, the RROD on the 360 was pretty awful. My day 1 360 never died on me and I actually sold it to a friend to go towards the Elite (120GB) when it came out and it never died on him either. He still uses it to this day since he never got an X1. The Elite I bought eventually did red ring on me though. Had people over late one night to play some Rock Band, get all the instruments set up and plugged into the USB ports, hit the power button, I'm sitting there staring at the TV like an idiot waiting for it to load, friend just says "Uhhh... bic... red ring." I was like you've gotta be fucking kidding me. Ran out to Walmart, grabbed one of the new Pro (60GB) versions that was out, swapped the HDD's so I had more space and all my DLC still and we were off and running. I sent the Elite in to MS to be fixed, used the Pro for a long time, but then sold both to go towards a 250GB "slim" when those came out. Speaking of Rock Band, I was thinking of the positive features this console has that the 360 didn't and game sharing came up. I think it was possible somehow on the 360 but I didn't utilize it. My friend and I absolutely utilize it on the X1 (helps justify continued use of the console despite my general disappointment with it) and something that also goes over game sharing is EA Access. I just remembered that EA publishes Rock Band. So my friend and I will likely get that at a discount and hopefully get early access because of EA Access. Rock Band 4 is definitely the game I'm most looking forward to on this console right now. Have over 1,000 DLC songs that will all work (eventually) on this one. Gonna be great.
yeah I have to hard reboot every few weeks or so as well. good point on the Red Ring of Death - that took you out about 2 weeks. I had 3 different Xboxs get that
