I played a lot of halo wars back in the day and thought it worked really well for a console rts. They built the UI ground up for it so it should have no problems in terms of control. From what I remember it was a big rock-paper-scissors style. Infantry beats Air units, air units beat ground vehicles (with exceptions to anti air specific ones), and ground vehicles beat infantry. The upgrade system in the first one was fairly simple and navigable. The main differences between the classes are the leader abilities and hero units. If you're humans you can have up to 3 Spartans at a time that can jack and repurpose vehicles and can carry smgs, rockets (I think), and Spartan lasers depending on their upgrade status. The leader is out of battle but can provide numerous support devices for on the ground units. The arbiter in the last game was an on the field unit that you could upgrade and could absolutely destroy people if you can get the ball rolling. There were also elite honor guards that were melee based. I don't remember anything about the brute cheiftan because I didn't play any as him. The learning curve isn't too bad as the campaign will build you up to being able to play by yourself. I use to be a big halo fanboy so I remember loving the game, so I'm probably speaking from bias here, but I thought it was a very good game. It also has one of my favorite cutscenes from any halo game.
Yeah RPS style is what age of empires was. But with more civs. Every era of the game had about 8 plus civs with varies units that would counter others. So essentially you had to be well versed in all off them. Especially 1v1. My main concern is that without a mouse it'll be frustrating to move around. But I see people manage.
TF2 is fun as hell. I wanted to wait til i played TF1 SP but my buddy wanted to try out 2 MP. That grappling hook thingy is hilarious. Just throw that shit and book it.
TF1 SP isn't really SP. It's just MP with a little added story/lore before and after each map. And when I say it's just MP I mean you are playing it with 5 matchmade teammates against 6 matchmade opponents.
Fuuuuuuuuuck I just did an absurd cavalry charge on operations and killed 10 dudes in a row. It was that sinai map I flanked around them and they all were facing the wrong way. Damn. I couldn't remember how to DVR it. I'm such a noob.

What are the benefits of using the XBOX instead of the cable box? Currently i have Netflix and HBOGo hooked up to my smart TV. There is only 1 HDMI port on the cable box. So id have to connect it to the XB and then connect the XB to the TV. Is the hassle worth it?
What are you trying to do? You won't be using the X1 instead of the cable box. I am confused by what you're asking I have my Directv box connected to my X1 and it makes it easier for me to change from tv to game and back.
If you have all your apps on you X1 it makes it easier I can control my DIRECTV with my X1 remote which is cool but you're right there isn't a huge difference if you don't mind swirtching inputs

I think if you have the S you can play 4K video on it so if you're smart tv isn't 4K that's something. If your tv is 4K then it doesn't matter but I guess if your tv is not 4K it doesn't matter if your S can play 4K video. I have both of mine set up like that becuse it is what I am used to doing
Im so confused. I have a 4k TV. Ever since I winged a remote at the old one. So the only way to watch 4k Netflix is if I use my Xbox?
What I wrote actually didn't make sense. You need a 4K tv to watch 4K video. I am drinking watching boxing so that was a stream of consciousness type post. I like having it set up through my X1 but you're not losing anything by not doing it that way.
Some people like usung the kinect to turn on their TV/change channels and stuff. Might be a benefit / worth checking out
check and make sure your cable box is set to 1080. for some reason a lot of them auto switch back to 480p when you first run the hdmi it into the xbox
If anyone ever wants to play Smite, holler at ya boi. Ymir as a guardian is amazing if you want an easy character. Kulkulkan is also relatively easy
I've been playing pretty much every night for a couple of weeks now. Up to 20ish mastered gods. I'm finding my sweet spot as a mage/hunter though. Warrior and assassin probably my weakest. I usually play joust/arena/siege. Not a big fan of conquest
I only have the basic characters right now, but I really like Thor and Neith. I've only played arena though.
I'm mostly Arena but open to playing anything. I'd prefer to play Mage, Hunter, or Assassin....but I dominate with Ares and Ymir if necessary
Arena is probably the most action oriented game mode, but I feel like it's hard to "learn" how other gods play in that mode because of the chaos. Other modes are basically nonstop 2 v. 2 or 3 v. 3, and you quickly learn how to play your god/counter others. My fav mode is definitely joust -- it's single lane 3 v. 3. You have a tower to defend or destroy, a phoenix, then a titan. First team to break through and destroy the other team's titan wins. I was pretty clueless about how to play until I ventured outside of the arena game mode. Also, the god pack is worth getting if you put a lot of time into the game. There are like 80+ gods I think.
