Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Released by DC United this year went on trial with Union but wasn't picked up. Is floating as a FA.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Wasn't he considered a top American prospect at one point, probably like 6 or 7 years ago? I think he was like 16 then, he can't even make an MLS roster now?
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Szetela played on the 2008 Olympic team at age 21 or 22 now 24. I think Szetela is good enough to play in MLS but his salary might be too high not sure because there isn't a ton of info out there on guys like this. I think he might be trying out for a Polish team. Supposedly lots of mental issues as well.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Yes, Racing Santander bought him from Columbus after the '07 U-20 WC. From what people in Columbus have said, he's a little primadonna bitch. If he gets cut by the worst team in MLS, then there has to be some attitude and work ethic issues, because he's definitely good enough to be a consistent MLS starter.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Szetela is currently on trial w/ some Polish team. Not sure if it is in the first division or not. Kid was on of the better U20 prospects and was pretty cool to see him score against Poland a few years back.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 I was going to do it as we got closer to the start of the season and end of the transfer period. I'm going to update it by country, and I really don't care much about guys playing in some Scandanavian 2nd division.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Agree. I would focus on the players in bigger leagues and prospects. Just bogs it down with names that don't matter. No need to be like Big Soccer and track 36 year old journeymen strikers playing in the 2nd Division League on Solomon Island.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Updated players abroad in the op, let me know of any updates, additions, or changes needed. I'm sure some will notice Estoril Praia in the Portuguese 2nd division. It's owned by a company called Traffic Sports (they also own Miami FC and a team in Brazil) and they're one of those 3rd party companies that own players rights (like Tevez and Mascherano), and those players are signed with Traffic, who place them at Estoril until they find a bigger club. It's why Greg Garza will be loaned there, and Gale Agbossoumonde could eventually be loaned there as well, but I think he might be good enough to be loaned to a bottom team in the Portuguese 1st division.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 wonder if he's a guy Bradley has on his radar for August 10th. would suck to pull him from his club, but nice to get him national team experience (even if it's a friendly).
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Any new transfer rumors for guys like M. Bradley? I was hoping to see him end up at a decent side this season
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Can't until he's a citizen, but I'm sure he would have a couple caps by now if he'd been eligible. The Danish league is now the 12th rated league in the UEFA coefficient, which we know isn't an exact scientific rating system, but it has really risen in quality the past few years. I think we'll see quite a few Americans continue to look there over the next few years as a nice stepping stone European league.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 An article on 21 y/o Sampdoria forward, Gabe Ferrari. He's kind of been lost in the shuffle past couple years with injuries and being on loan in Serie C, but Sampdoria just extended his contract another two years and he'll be practicing with the 1st team in preseason. He was a member of the '07 U-20 WC team. http://yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=6526
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Looks like Clarence Goodson may be on his way out of Norwegian club IK Start and join Odense of the Danish Superleague
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 This has been reported as false...Arsenal called Najar's agent when they heard the news and said it was the first they had heard of it.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Jose Torres is playing on Telefutura right now if anyone is interested (Gomez and Vidal are subs), Pachuca is up 1-0 after 25'
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 In a friendly yesterday against Blackburn, Edu scored on a header and also drew a PK (that Rangrs missed).
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Looks like Agbossoumonde's move to Sporting Braga is now permanent after being on a 6-month loan, and sounds like he has a chance to get some minutes this year, which would be damn impressive for any 18 y/o CB on the 2nd place team in Portugal last year.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Kljestan is in the starting lineup for Anderlecht in the 1st leg of their CL qualifier against New Saints.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 I'll check footytube later today to see if any highlights show up, if not Sky Sports News tonight may have them
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Movsisyan scored 2 goals today in the 1st leg of Randers EL qualifier, but they lost 3-2.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 here's Jermaine Jones winner against HSV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySYOZ5RhICA&feature=player_embedded#!
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Kljestan started and had an assist on Anderlecht's first goal in a 3-0 victory to advance to the next round of the Champions League, and he apparently played well overall. And Lukaku looks like he's 27, not 17. Anderlecht - The New Saints 3-0 Champions League 3rd Qual. Round
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 GK Luis Robles has signed a two year deal with BL2 side Karlsruhe. 18 y/o FW Conor Doyle from Dallas, TX has signed a two year deal with Derby County after impressing on a trial (scored a goal in a friendly with the 1st team), he was committed to Creighton. He has an Irish passport, which is why he qualifies for a work permit.
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Sacha is off to an incredible start in Europe, he has had his share of horrific games for the US, but he has to be in the picture for the next cycle, especially if keeps playing this well
Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 He's been playing shitty since he somehow snagged a hot ass gf. and for Chelsea :curses:

Re: Yanks Abroad '10-'11 Not sure but ironically, Besiktas is one of the teams rumored to be heavily after him. Here's the goal: VILLARREAL 2-2 BESIKTAS ALTIDORE PARTIDO AMISTOSO 08-08-2010
