I think the season has mostly been fine (still far and away the worst of the four) but this episode sucked ass. Even the small throw-in shit like the Monica/jealousy stuff was bad.
this show has always been over the top, but that was one of the dumbest things to ever happen on it. Guy has a knife pulled out of his shoulder and then fights for hours? and if the rule is no fighting, why do you allow them to fight it out in front of everyone? the Jamie shit is so painfully dumb as well This season hasn’t been good. It started off bad when they didn’t spend more time on payback for the shootings and bomb. Seems like that was kind of swept under the rug somehow. Feel like that would be a bigger deal think the show has finally reached the sons of anarchy point where they know it’s a money maker so they’ll keep pumping out episodes and seasons that go further and further into pointlessness and silliness
I just see how this show goes from a fucking warzone with everything hanging on a thread to dancing horses in like two episodes
I mentioned the SOA vibes I got after the first episode of this season. It's a season that feels like the man behind it's creation is no longer looking at the show as his baby. Movies, Mayor of Kingston, 1888 and other projects clearly have distracted him and hurt this season. I don't think in the grand scheme of things that the show is awful or season is awful but in comparison to what we got prior it's bad.
I think this season went wrong when they made Randall the mastermind of the hit job. The show highlighted early on how much cash it took to carry out that large of a hit. To this point its not been explained how Randall a low life convict with a nothing life was able to secure the funds. Also Jamie having zero character development in this entire arc is frustrating. So he was a coward who felt John only used him like a pawn in a chess match only for him to align with the man who killed his mother so he can be used like a pawn in a chess match? Just have Jamie embrace the "precious" and go full evil if this is the route we are taking. I mean fuck once you decide the Dutton's who took you in as a child and gave you an amazing life are the bad guys and you rather live a life with the man who murdered your mom that put you in position to be adopted I think your pot committed at that point. Trying to murder Randall after all than AND Randall locating and returning the baby momma and kid... seriously wtf is this.
I'll keep watching for the Rip and Jimmy characters, but man this has been a bad season. We have witnessed more screen time in dancing horses than we have any plot development.
I almost get the feeling that the season will be mostly filler and the last 2 episodes will be the only important thing wrt connecting the prior season.
Just now starting this weeks episode. I think I could really do without them killing so much time on ranching montages.
I thought the same thing…. But Rip is the star of the show. I have a hard time stomaching them offing him.
1883 looks good but I don’t want to pay for another damn streaming service. Already have like fucking 8 of them.
I just don’t understand the timing of this story, why introduce it right now? You have so many other irons in the fire and now you want to throw this one on top of it. Otherwise decent episode.
I'm guessing this will drive KC to live back home after he cheats on his wife. Hate that and wish they would just do something else to get him back to Yellowstone. That family has already gone through enough and feel for Tate
This season is not on the same level as the others, but I'm still really enjoying it. It wanders aimlessly at times but even that is better than the other shit I'd be watching, they just don't need to drag it out too long.
Now Jimmy…yeah he’s definitely going to take that girl to dinner and his old girlfriend is going to walk in the only diner in town during Jimmy’s first date I just hate we are wasting 10 minutes an episode out of 45 on ranching montages and Jimmy.
Feels like 20% or so of this season is an advertisement for 6666. Last night's episode was good. The governor move will finally send Jamie to the dark side. Looking forward to a solid finish.
I personally think this has been one of the more interesting plots of the season. I am not very knowledgeable about ranching so seeing it done at a real ranch and Jimmy navigating it is interesting.
BTW, the John running for Governor storyline made so much sense as soon as the current Governor brought it up. I was surprised that he didn't immediately recognize it as an opportunity to shut down the risk of losing the land and that Beth needed to spell it out for him. Also, as much as I enjoy Beth being a total bitch to people, it is really such a ridiculous caricature at this point. The scene with the assistant was kind of dumb, and the idea that anybody would put that artwork in the office of someone new and expect for them to like it was also ridiculous.
Had the same thought about Beth in last night's episode. Wish they'd tone it back a bit with her during the random scenes (like the office), so it doesn't lose its punch in the bigger scenes
Beth instantly regretting her choice the moment she saw the projected "finished product" was interesting. John seems to really hate the idea of running but refuses to trust Jamie is pretty key. Deep down he doesn't trust Kayce's judgment. I don't know why they don't have Beth run for office. But with her being the campaign coordinator I guess she is.
So in like a weeks time Tate went from being so traumatized he can’t come from out from under the bed into a charismatic dude firing zingers
Honestly, it seems so tacky and over the top. I cringe at some of the stuff she says in professional settings.
I liked Yellowstone, but I'm pretty tired of it. The laziness of the writing, framing everything as a rural conservative wet dream is not only gross, it's overly simplified and naïve. I don't have a lot of exposure to Sheridan outside of this show, but it's turned into some lazy ass fox news propaganda.
