It’s sad that anyone would think that’s a lot for teachers to make. My wife makes about $90 and she IMO is underpaid.
Teachers are vital and underpaid. That’s a tax allocation issue though. Of course investing in ed pumps the economy long term, but good luck getting certain people to care about that. When you’re not generating revenue directly, you’re in a group of workers that’s often ignored.
There's a lot of money in her district. It's a relatively affluent area. A friend of mine is a crisis counselor with NYC BoE, clearing $105k a year. She has a masters, gonna guess she's about 10 years in now.

Teachers that are making more than the base salary are doing extra stuff. Working overtime, working summers teaching extra classes. Again you either are taking about something you know nothing to very little about or are being purposely disingenuous. Good teachers invest a lot, work hard and are woefully underpaid compared to other professionals.

Yeah so if that is the average a teacher making 70 is way above and that teacher is doing a lot more and not making 70k for “9-10 months of work” like you said. Average teacher salary in Jersey appears to be $55k this teacher making $70 was doing more so like I said that 70 wasn’t just for 9-10 months.
Teacher in my district making 85k base a year then clears 100k with coaching football, track and girls basketball. Retiring with i think he said 80ishk a year pension for rest of life. Just turned 50.
Well yeah, but we were speaking in general. 70k has to put a teacher in the top 15-20% of high school teachers you would think, if not higher.

Ramsey Carpenter Bearse, 28, of Charleston, a science teacher at Andrew Jackson Middle School in Cross Lanes, was charged with four counts of sending obscene material to a minor. Deputies allege she sent nude photos to a 15-year-old former AJ student. According to the criminal complaint, Bearse admitted to sending at least four photos to the boy earlier this year via Snapchat. Kanawha County Schools spokesperson Briana Warner confirmed Bearse’s employment but didn’t comment on the specifics of the case. “We cannot comment on personnel matters, but we will follow all applicable policies and procedures. The safety and security of our students is our top priority,” Warner said. Bearse, Ramsey Carpenter at the time, was crowned Miss Kentucky in 2014. She competed in the Miss America Pageant in 2015.
