Jennilynne Derolf was arrested on July 15, 2021, with allegations of sexually assaulting the teenager from her school. She was charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault, and institutional sexual assault, apart from misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and corruption of minors. Derolf was released on bail on July 23, 2021, after which she again started meeting with the student secretly. On August 22, the boy's family contacted the police and reported about her secret meetings. As the cops reached the rendezvous, Derolf reportedly shot herself dead with a gun. According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Katherine Folger Pelfrey admitted to having sex with a student at her home near Clemson on December 29. Investigators said they were notified of the incident on December 31. Pelfrey is charged Monday with Sexual Battery with a Student 16-17 Years of Age and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The School District of Pickens County said they were made aware of the incident on December 31 and that she is no longer employed as a teacher at the district.
