Nah. Had small kids back to back about 6 years ago. Dog was sweet, but always jumping on the toddlers, scratching them, knocking them over. We found an awesome home for her with some friends who can’t have kids. Fast forward about 5 years and it’s been nice not having to take care of one, etc.. 35 years with dogs and I honestly don’t miss it. Love dogs, but just one less thing in my life to have to keep up with has been a blessing.
Dogs are great But little hyper yippie dogs that aren’t trained for shit can get bent Yes, this IS recency bias
This is me too. I love the thought of having a dog again, but I know the reality is a big commitment that I'm not comfortable with.
Came home for lunch today and my Sheltie did her normal batshit crazy dance and ran to my wife to alert her I’m home before coming back and barking and doing this sideways waddle of happiness to see me after all of 5 hours. Our terrier-dachshund mix greeted me with tail wagging in an old lady way of asking for a pet and ‘hi dad, glad you are home.’ This happens everyday and for a moment everyday, no matter how shitty, I can forget the problems of the world because these two awesome animals have been waiting by the window, while my wife works, waiting for my arrival. It’s the best.
Also, most of the grumpiest assholes in my life don’t like dogs. The other who doesn’t is Donald Trump.
There are almost no bad dogs, but there are lots of bad dog owners. lots of morons who think they are a dog whisperer walking their dogs without leashes down heavily trafficked streets in my neighborhood. They always get annoyed when they run into another dumbass with an unleashed dog.
I do this all the time in the winter; only if its a bar with no food service. But I also fly with my dog, etc. Just took him to Georgia's stadium saturday too. Its not like he barks or bites.
This dog was so big it impeded foot traffic to and from the bar (small bar), dogs in bars are fine if you use common sense.
I know a variety of people who can/will take my dog for a few days to a few weeks. I do not know many people I can leave a child with like that.
Have had dogs and cats. Like both. I agree you sacrifice a good bit of your time/freedom for them which is part of why I don't have either now
I'm sure fun cats exist, but I unfortunately haven't met any. Probably have met 100 awesome pups though
Where I'm from there are no dog Americans. There are no cat Americans. There are only Americans by god.
Oh yeah. His coat is super short but he's ridiculously soft. I honestly don't understand how it's possible. Would definitely recommend petting.
