He’s allowed 81 runs over his last 78 2/3 innings. Hasn’t won a game in 28 consecutive starts (May of last year).Averaging 1 strikeout per 9 walks. This year he has a 2.82 WHIP. Almost 3 runners per innining!! Literally might be the worst pitcher in history.
Bundy is good, so we have that at least management of this roster has been so incredibly botched. Refusal to accept a rebuild, even a short 1 year one, and/or trade our pieces is now going to leave us with Chris Davis and the rest of the pile shit after Machado goes somewhere else for $300 million. We have a depleted and shit farm system and a management that refuses to accept a rebuild and tries to hang on to hopefully get 1 of the wildcards.
2 of our 3 starting outfielders have an ops under .475, everything is fine. Machado should at least get us a good haul if he keeps this up, depressing though.
Machado is a good dude, I'm really fucking bummed that this is the last of him. Hopefully he goes to the NL, fuck Duquette and fuck Angelos. Could pay him if we didn't keep giving out contracts to worthless players.
will always love Buck turned us around and the Detroit series was so much fun, did what he did with that fuckstick Duquette.
Signing Davis and Trumbo has set the franchise back badly. Not only are we unable to sign Machado but we also had to move Mancini, who is better than both of them, to the outfield which also blocks our top prospects who are mostly outfielders. And they both suck
well yep fuck this season and hope we get more than absolute dogshit for Manny, etc... but let's win the season series with the Yankees still, obviously
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww We just traded Gausman, and O'day to the Braves for prospects and Schoop to the Brewers for prospects.......
Very impressive what DD was able to do. Hopefully it pays off in a couple years. Signing Victor Victor would make this an A+ effort
Feels like the return from the Braves wasn’t as good as expected but seeing the international slot money and O’Day salary coming off the books it made more sense. Encarnacion is particular intriguing as a super young and talented prospect. The other deals I was very happy with
#1/#2 overall next year and probably for 2020 too, really need to get a young star in the fold. Hopefully this means Peter Angelos is out of the way now and can act like a real franchise.
They say they're gonna put the money we're saving in salary to scouting/analytics/international market, very skeptical but nice to finally be in those markets.
Our system did get an overhaul. The Machado trade fetched the future star (hopefully) in Diaz and the rest were guys all on the rise that seem to be having really good seasons. The Braves deal seemed to be more about dumping salary (O’Day) and the international market $ but I do really like Encarnacion. Haven’t looked too much into the other guys yet. Don’t know much about the Brewers deal but it added 2 top 15 prospects to our system.
Seems like we got the value of what Gausman currently is rather than what he can be in a weaker hitting division and better coaching/defense. Wanna see Cedric Mullins come up soon, seems like a fun player that could be a fan favorite.
As bad as they were this year, I’ll still miss buck. I got to see 2 playoff games in different seasons thanks to him.
That would honestly be amazingly awesome. I'm excited to take this team to the world series in the Show....After I cut Chris Davis and eat the fuck out of his salary.
Looks like Austin Hays, Chance Sisco, Yusniel Diaz and Anthony Santander all starting the season in the minors. We still have some exciting youngsters thankfully in Rio Ruiz, Renato Nunez and Cedric Mullins breaking camp with the big club it looks like. You can add Dwight Smith Jr to the list as well even though he doesnt excite me.
The sons at least seem to have a real view of what the league is becoming New GM graduated from HS same year/same school as my sister and was in her prom group. Pointless fact but we need to follow the Astros model.
I read an article about how predictions for us to be so bad are kind of bullshit because they are based off the fact that we will have so many new MLBers this year so they are going off the assumption that they cant make the jump of course. However teams with as little proven talent as us in the past have actually performed above expectations. Now Im not saying we will win the division nor am I even expecting .400 ball but you never know.
I just want to get all of the youngster up to the big leagues and let them get some innings. That way when I watch I actually have some sort of excitability.
I will say the whole chatter about 5 year turn around is fucking ridiculous - there is talent in the farm system and in the team (no nothing exceptional in this historically awful pitching development), but it only take some chase here and there to greatly improve in a year or two - the whole cap-salary-small-market excuse is horribly awful bullshit. Miami or Arizona could be perennial champions and financially viable if the ownership decided it was more important to win games above all else - so could BMore
our farm system is garbage despite selling what talent we actually did have last year. Oh, we are also paying Chris Davis 21 mill a year for the next 4 years. We're gonna suck for awhile and have to rely on the new management to dig us out of the hole.
The farm system lacks top end talent but it actually has pretty good depth which could produce solid big leaguers. I don’t think it’s as bare as people make it out to be. It’s definitely going to take a couple years just to get up with the times. Most teams started adopting analytics and heavy international scouting in 2012 so we have about 7 years of catch up to do. Elias said when he was hired the “analytics” department consisted of one web developer and that was it. Not even one actual analyst.
I just meant that MLB teams - even small market ones - can spend a lot more than the excuses they give fans
The Davis contract fucks us so hard. We just have no options with it and the fucker can't perform at the damn AA level.
was at the game Saturday. Didn't follow spring training that closely this year and I couldn't believe how few starters I recognized. Everyone is new. It is an exciting style of baseball though and a breath of fresh air. Aggressive on the basepaths, stealing bases, small ball, etc. There's no chance Chris Davis lasts on this team in any capacity. He has to go.
I'm not saying these series mean shit to how the year goes but it's hard to analyze how young kids are going to perform.. the one thing you know is they aren't vets going through the motions expecting a lost year and every AB or play is important to them staying in the big leagues. That's going to equal some success at times when least expecting it a la the first week of baseball.
